I’m celebrating the re-release of Love Entwined, A Cardiff Novel!
Love Entwined was originally released in 2013. It is the first story in the Cardiff family series. It is now available on Amazon in ebook, paperback and hardcover.
Love Entwined has a new look! Here is the new cover for the love story of Roman and Amelie.
I remember searching Barnes and Nobles for a book that blended paranormal elements with reincarnation and some of my favorite things like haunted houses and witches. I came home empty handed. Soon after, I was cooking dinner and saw a man dodging a knife in my kitchen. For three weeks, this man fought for his life in my home. These visions came to me as my mind was focused on ordinary tasks. A bit startling, but this man was crystal clear to me: his features, his country, his family history. I realized he wanted his story to be told and so Roman, the hero of Love Entwined, was born.
The inspiration was exhilarating and sometimes downright scary. Like when I was looking for a great last name for Roman, a prestigious name for his design firm. The name Cardiff popped into my head and I incorporated it into his life. I thought I’d made the name up until six months later when I saw the name Cardiff on a map of Wales, where Roman’s ancestors hail from.
Amelie surfaced once I’d gotten Roman’s backstory down. There couldn’t be anyone else for this man. Their lives just clicked into place, from eighteenth century ballrooms to corporate design firms, all I had to do was write. It was a blast to revisit those feelings again while re-editing Love Entwined.
I grew up with the Twilight Zone and Hitchcock’s masterpieces as background music in a busy New York City household with very imaginative big sisters. (I was once locked in our big, dark and creepy old basement while my mother was at work – very inspiring!) It is no wonder I love the worlds I am able to create as a writer. It is an alternate reality, a place I can go to contemplate fantasies and make them happen. That’s exactly what I did with the Cardiff Novels. You will see my love of the chase and the rescue in these stories. Next up: I’m re-vamping Falcon’s Angel, the second book in the Cardiff Novels.
Love Entwined

Amelie Laurent is on her way to the top of the jewelry designing world, and she has no time for men. She has just landed an assignment her colleagues would die for – and will die for.
On a remote English estate, an unseen gunman takes a shot at Amelie’s host, Roman Cardiff, and all eyes are on his business rival. But Amelie and Roman are to blame for falling in love two hundred years before, a time neither of them remembers. They are falling in love again, and as they uncover a history of jewels and murder, a loving spirit seeks to guide them through a fatal reunion.
Through the heartbreak of pre-Revolutionary France and the secrets of St. Clair Manor, one history is laid to rest, and another is just beginning.
Excerpt:
Harold cleared his throat. “You will be in good hands with Amelie. Did you know she was the lead designer behind Bijou’s Artisan Collection? They specifically requested her for the contract.”
“I had no idea.” There was a slight edge in Mr. Cardiff’s tone now, but nothing compared to the arrogance that frosted his eyes. “And how is our old friend Garamonde?”
Was it possible to hate someone at first sight?
She gave him a cold stare. “Still old, I suppose.”
Harold coughed, and she refused to look at him. “Amelie, would you like to sit?”
She did not move and would stare Mr. Cardiff down until closing time, if necessary.
As quickly as Mr. Cardiff’s eyes had frosted, they warmed up again with amusement.
“Amelie is an expert in design and color.” Harold leaned against his desk and scolded her with his eyes. “I am sure you will be very pleased with her work.”
“Excellent.” Mr. Cardiff said, gesturing to the sofa.
When she did not sit down, he sat on the other end of the divan and stretched his long, muscular legs out.
A swimmer’s physique, she thought, and then shut down that errant thought as quickly as it had surfaced.
She could not quell the sinking feeling that she had lost control of the situation. She suspected it had never been in her possession in the first place. Now that her fateful words of acceptance had sunk in, the wind went out of her sails.
“When will you be ready to leave for St. Clair Manor?” Mr. Cardiff smiled just as smoothly as he had engineered this desired outcome.
“St. Clair Manor?” She looked from Mr. Cardiff to Harold.
“In England.” Smiling, Harold went around the desk and sat down.
“Mr. Cardiff, this is highly irregular. I cannot be contracted out…”her voice trailed off. Of course, she could be contracted out just as she was last year for the Bijou assignment. She looked at Harold again.
His smile broadened.
She schooled her voice back to a modicum of professionalism.
“Mr. Cardiff, we have everything we need here at Penrods for this assignment. I can forward the sketches to you and your team in just a few weeks.”
His eyes glinted. “The design team will not be involved in this campaign. I am looking for a more focused collaboration. Just you and I.”
