Excerpt from Twist Me by Anna Zaires

It’s evening now. With every minute that passes, I’m starting to get more and more anxious at the thought of seeing my captor again.

The novel that I’ve been reading can no longer hold my interest. I put it down and walk in circles around the room.

I am dressed in the clothes Beth had given me earlier. It’s not what I would’ve chosen to wear, but it’s better than a bathrobe. A sexy pair of white lacy panties and a matching bra for underwear. A pretty blue sundress that buttons in the front. Everything fits me suspiciously well. Has he been stalking me for a while? Learning everything about me, including my clothing size?

The thought makes me sick.

I am trying not to think about what’s to come, but it’s impossible. I don’t know why I’m so sure he’ll come to me tonight. It’s possible he has an entire harem of women stashed away on this island, and he visits each one only once a week, like sultans used to do.

Yet somehow I know he’ll be here soon. Last night had simply whetted his appetite. I know he’s not done with me, not by a long shot.

Finally, the door opens.

He walks in like he owns the place. Which, of course, he does.

I am again struck by his masculine beauty. He could’ve been a model or a movie star, with a face like his. If there was any fairness in the world, he would’ve been short or had some other imperfection to offset that face.

But he doesn’t. His body is tall and muscular, perfectly proportioned. I remember what it feels like to have him inside me, and I feel an unwelcome jolt of arousal.

He’s again wearing jeans and a T-shirt. A grey one this time. He seems to favor simple clothing, and he’s smart to do so. His looks don’t need any enhancement.

He smiles at me. It’s his fallen angel smile—dark and seductive at the same time. “Hello, Nora.”

I don’t know what to say to him, so I blurt out the first thing that pops into my head. “How long are you going to keep me here?”

He cocks his head slightly to the side. “Here in the room? Or on the island?”

“Both.”

“Beth will show you around tomorrow, take you swimming, if you’d like,” he says, approaching me. “You won’t be locked in, unless you do something foolish.”

“Such as?” I ask, my heart pounding in my chest as he stops next to me and lifts his hand to stroke my hair.

“Trying to harm Beth or yourself.” His voice is soft, his gaze hypnotic as he looks down on me. The way he’s touching my hair is oddly relaxing.

I blink, trying to break his spell. “And what about on the island? How long will you keep me here?”

His hand caresses my face now, curves around my cheek. I catch myself leaning into his touch, like a cat getting petted, and I immediately stiffen.

His lips curve into a knowing smile. The bastard knows the effect he has on me. “A long time, I hope,” he says.

For some reason, I’m not surprised. He wouldn’t have bothered bringing me all the way here if he just wanted to fuck me a few times. I’m terrified, but I’m not surprised.

I gather my courage and ask the next logical question. “Why did you kidnap me?”

The smile leaves his face. He doesn’t answer, just looks at me with an inscrutable blue gaze.

I begin to shake. “Are you going to kill me?”

“No, Nora, I won’t kill you.”

His denial reassures me, although he could obviously be lying. “Are you going to sell me?” I can barely get the words out. “Like to be a prostitute or something?”

“No,” he says softly. “Never. You’re mine and mine alone.”

I feel a tiny bit calmer, but there is one more thing I have to know. “Are you going to hurt me?”

For a moment, he doesn’t answer again. Something dark briefly flashes in his eyes. “Probably,” he says quietly.

And then he leans down and kisses me, his warm lips soft and gentle on mine.

For a second, I stand there frozen, unresponsive. I believe him. I know he’s telling the truth when he says he’ll hurt me. There’s something in him that scares me—that has scared me from the very beginning.

He’s nothing like the boys I’ve gone on dates with. He’s capable of anything.

And I’m completely at his mercy.

I think about trying to fight him again. That would be the normal thing to do in my situation. The brave thing to do.

And yet I don’t do it.

I can feel the darkness inside him. There’s something wrong with him. His outer beauty hides something monstrous underneath.

I don’t want to unleash that darkness. I don’t know what will happen if I do.

So I stand still in his embrace and let him kiss me. And when he picks me up again and takes me to bed, I don’t try to resist in any way.

Instead, I close my eyes and give in to the sensations.

Excerpt:

“You are a delicacy,” he said in her ear.

Sofie woke with a slow smile. She felt tingly inside, relaxed and exhilarated at the same time.

He’d given her what she had always secretly wanted but had been afraid to ask for up until now; wild, passionate sex. The kind that satisfied her on all levels. Mouth-wateringly good.

She turned her head on the pillow toward the sound of his voice. “And you are the most delicious man I have ever…”

She was in bed alone. Frowning at the pillow next to hers, she re-played their love-making in her head. All that had happened between them had been a dream.

She sat up, not at all surprised to find that she was naked again. “This isn’t happening…who are you?” She looked around the room. “Where are you?” She said louder, and then put her head in her hands.

“Of course it was a dream. I don’t even know who he is, I wouldn’t let a stranger…I am having a nervous breakdown. You Bastard, you did this to me.”

She must be going through Levi withdrawal. That’s why she was having these hot dreams. Then why couldn’t she shake the feeling that she was being watched? Even more alarming than that; she didn’t mind a bit.

She was enjoying the man with the golden eyes. Even though he was all in her mind, he was gorgeous and funny and so sexy. She loved the feel of his big body over hers. The way he took control of her body. He was a creative lover and put his all into it, into her. He knew just what she liked and didn’t mind getting messy.

“Better in bed than the Bastard.”

A lusty chuckle floated through the air and she looked up.

Adderley’s Bride: Beignets and Teamwork

DNA Danita's quote card

Happy Weekend All!

Now that The Dreams and Nightmares Anthology is released I can reflect on my experience in the making of this ‘first’ for me. Yes, this is the first time I’ve collaborated with other authors to create and I must say I loved the entire process. I made new friends and got closer to others. It was teamwork, it was fun. A shared excitement in every step of the process from choosing art to writing blurbs buoyed me for months. I’m not the graphic techie I want to be but I know a few now. 🙂 The learning process just continues and even that is exciting. I’m so grateful to Charlie Daye for getting us all together on this awesome anthology. 🙂

Teamwork is awesome guys – who agrees with me? No matter what team you belong to when your goal is accomplished the rewards ripple across your life like nuggets of knowledge that stay with you forever. Right now, I’m grinning from ear to ear as I write this. I hope you enjoy this excerpt of my story Adderley’s Bride from The Dreams and Nightmares Anthology. It’s all about teamwork.

Adderley’s Bride: The Dreams and Nightmares Anthology

He came up behind her at the island as she was kneading dough for the beignets.

The spacious kitchen should have been cold in the middle of the night but the hard body against her back enveloped her in warmth. She curled into him. At five-foot-four, her head only reached his chest. His pecs were a firm pillow.

In the seductive veil of the dream, her peripheral vision blurred so that she felt more than she saw. The only light on in the kitchen was the overhead light which pulsed above them. A thought teased her consciousness that maybe it was not the overhead light at all, but something more.

“Ah, Sweet Sofie.” He shifted until he was nestled between her legs. “I am drawn to you like a moth to a flame.” His arms came over her and as he helped her knead the dough, his shaft slid in and out between her legs.

She sighed her pleasure and leaned her head against his chest. Watching his big hands over hers with flecks of the flour and sugar mixture coating the hair on his knuckles was an erotic vision of teamwork. She wondered how those hands would feel as they kneaded her flesh.

Their hands worked in time to the rhythm of his slide, in and out. Their fingers clenched onto the mound of dough as he pushed forward, and released as he slid out from between her thighs. Their heavy breathing was the only sound as they clenched and released, clenched and released…

A lazy heat flared between her legs, warming her to the core and making her hips rock back and forth. Her legs were giving way and she spread them wider to stay upright. She stopped kneading the dough to lean over and hold onto the island.

He grabbed her hair, wrapping it around his hand so that she had to lean her head back against him. “Don’t stop,” his gentle scolding tickled her ear. “I have not had a decent beignet since I arrived in these United States.” He released her hair and pressed closer. She was now trapped between the island and his lean hips. “I’ll hold you up.” His low chuckle was a hot vibration between her thighs.

Adderley’s Bride

Her stomach growled, and he chuckled. “You haven’t eaten anything.”

“I’m not hungry.” She wanted to hear his stories. There was something about him that was so very compelling and she wasn’t going to fight it. He intrigued her.

Her stomach protested again and he gathered her in his arms. “Come on, then.” When he set her down they were standing in the kitchen.

Disoriented, she wavered on her feet. “H-How…did you do that?”

Grinning, he leaned against the counter in naked glory. He really was a large, beautiful man – ghost – she reminded herself. Ghost man.

“Oh, never mind.” He wasn’t going to answer her anyway. He was too much of a tease.

As she tried to gather her bearings, she decided she really was hungry. She retrieved the deep fryer from a draw under the island and placed it on the oven. After pouring in the oil, she gathered the ingredients for Monte Cristo sandwiches.

She rummaged in the refrigerator. “Continue.”

“After the rage, I began to listen. The Wynters were good people. Through them I learned what must have happened all those years ago. They had no idea their ancestor had not built this house. They were never told anything about me.”

She whisked the egg-flour mixture in a bowl. “Forest knows you’re here.” He didn’t answer and she turned, bumping into his chest. His movements were soundless and instant. It struck her that was the only way she could tell he was a ghost.

He set salt and pepper on the counter and took her by the waist, pulling her hips flush with his.

“But he won’t admit it,” she finished breathlessly.

“It’s for his own good now that Sophia is gone. Others would only think he is mad as a hatter.” He smoothed her bangs out of her face and bent to place his cheek against her hair.

She couldn’t argue with his reasoning and turned for the bread.

Gray wouldn’t let her go as he sniffed her hair like a predator assessing his meal. “It even smells like chocolate,” he murmured against her temple.

Desire rose in her like the jungle heat of her dreams. Her lioness was responding to his lion, almost making her forget how hungry she was.

Duets by Emelle Gamble

Duets offers alternating looks into the lives of two women who would seem to have little or nothing in common.

Screen star Molly Harper is on the verge of marrying a man who has swept her off her feet, thought perhaps hasn’t swept all her feelings for her first love away. Anne Sullivan, happily married for twenty-five years, is fighting to hold onto the man she loves, and hold off a confrontation that could shatter her family’s image of what they are.

Duets confronts a past secret that ties these two women’s lives together, just as chance events turn Molly and Anne’s worlds upside down.

Never and Forever by Lavinia Kent

Never and Forever is the beginning of the love story of two people who shouldn’t belong together.  Molly, Miss Wilkes, runs an employment agency helping women of quality find positions perfected suited to their characters.  Although her father held the title of Earl for just over a week before his death, Molly has never wanted to be a lady.  She knows her place in this world – and it is not at the center of society.

The Duke of Radford also knows his place in this world – and it’s above everybody else’s.  He cannot imagine a world without all the privilege and power that comes from being Radford.  He’s had foreign princesses and heiresses dangled before him for years.  Why would he ever have interest in a simple woman who doesn’t even understand that she should want to be a duchess?

Can these two overcome the obstacles of their own beliefs and realize that love can make all things possible?

Never and forever are both a very long time.  Where will their love fit?

The Psychic Detective by Evie Owens

Psychic Martin Sterling doesn’t trust cops–and the feeling is mutual. Detective Erin Healy needs more than a ghost story to save her job and reputation. Her partner is dead, a million dollars in drugs and money is missing, and all the evidence points to her.

Can a sexy psychic and a by the book cop, trapped between the living and the dead, unearth the truth? Or will a cold-blooded killer get away with it all…

 Emelle Gamble AuthorPic

Author Interview: Emelle Gamble

Woohoo! You are a published author. Describe a strong character trait you possess, good or bad, and how it helped you become a published author. I am tenacious. I think it’s very true that to accomplish anything you have to have talent and the will to succeed, and in publishing today, the will is truly tested like never before. There are ten times more books available now than when I first began with Harlequin Intrigue.  A favorite quote of mine is ‘a goal without a plan is just a dream’ and that is more true than ever about being a published writer.

Sometimes an author begins writing a story before they are aware of its genre. Did you choose your genre, or did it choose you? It always chooses me, and often it is a hybrid. I like the blended genre of romance-women’s fiction, where ideas and plots get to be a little bit meatier.

The plot thickens, or does it? Which one are you, a pantser or a plotter? I am a plotter. I never start until I have a title, an ending, and a situation that must be interesting and leave people guessing. And I don’t write mystery, ha! But plotting is a very important element to me because it allows me to clarify each character’s motivation. And I think having a character act from clear and logical motivation is impossible for me without thinking through the plot structure. That’s not to say my plots don’t change. They certainly do. But I seldom write myself into a corner.

Fear 101: As writers it is our duty to make our characters face their fears. Have you ever included one of your own fears in a storyline? Yes. Very interesting question Danita. I realize that almost everything I write is about identity and family, and those were issues I faced personally with a very complicated personal family story. And I am afraid of snakes. I’ve had a few of them on page, but usually take them out. I’m too afraid to write about them!

Fear 102: Yes, deadlines are terrifying. Have you conquered the juggling act between writing and the rest of your life? What do you do when it feels like the balls are dropping all around you? I am very strict now with following a schedule, which is what I think any writer who has a full-time other job as well as being a writer must have. I write or work on marketing 2 hours in the morning and one hour at night. I write creatively at night, and all weekend. So far it works. Except for the dropping ball that is my sanity, and my date nights with hubby – HA – but 2014 has me resolving to get that one back.

Switch positions with one of your main characters in a scene. What is the outcome, disaster or divine intervention? I’ll switch with Anne in Duets, one of the novellas in Once and Forever, and I’ll do the very same thing she did. Wow. I thought I might not, but confronted with the choice, I would. I say never tamper with how life has played out…for if you did, you would not foresee the other little things that would change everything!

Where is your favorite place to write? Add that one comfort food that you can’t do without. Only place I can write is my office at home. It’s hopeless. I’ve tried everywhere from vacation to the hospital to my best friend’s vacation house to a rented hotel room in London. CAN. NOT. DO. IT. And one comfort food is a glass of milk. It is usually accompanied by an oatmeal cookie, but I’m keeping that a secret.

Writing inspirations? Every book I’ve ever read. Good ones, I want to do as well. Bad ones, I smirk and think I can do better. Smirk fades, however, when I remember just how hard it is! I am still inspired by Rosamunde Pilcher and P.D. James. Every day.

You are introduced to your favorite author. Who is it, and what is that one burning question you must ask them? Sue Grafton. “When will Kelsey find her one and only?” I think I know the answer, but I’d still like to hear her say it.

I’ve gone mad – why don’t you come with me? Some people just don’t understand us writers. Name a quirky, writer-thing you do that friends wish you didn’t. This one stumped me. I do many, many annoying things I’m sure my friends wish I wouldn’t, such as give unwanted advice about a thousand times too many times, or take 5 minutes to tell a story (writer here) or swear a lot (sorry mom, I do). But I’m not sure I can blame this on a quirky, writer-thing…with the possible exception that about 10 times a week I think, when someone tells me something that happened to them, “now there’s an interesting anecdote I could use in my next novel…” HA! Writers steal from real life EVERY DAY.

Excerpt Contemporary Women’s Fiction – Emelle Gamble’s Duets

“When are you thinking of having the wedding, Molly? And where?” Norma cleared her throat. “Here in LA or up at the Santa Barbara house?”

“In a couple of weeks, actually. At Cabo San Lucas. I think only two dozen people at most. It will be easier to keep the location a secret that way.” Molly clapped her hands together, throwing herself into the part of a thrilled bride-to-be. “It’s going to be perfect. I’ll wear your veil and your mother’s emerald earrings. Jason can give me away. Isn’t that what you always dreamed of? Me as a bride?”

Norma nodded. “Yes, I’ve dreamed of that.”

“Then be happy for me, Mom. For all of us. Please.” She folded her hands around her mother’s. “It’s a new chapter. And Ben’s perfect for me. Give him a chance and you’ll see.”

The limousine pulled into the driveway and a few seconds later stopped at the front entrance. Molly kissed Norma’s cheek and bounced out, directing the luggage removal and welcoming the family dogs that leaped around her like canine paparazzi at the sound of her famous voice.

But Norma didn’t move. A few moments later her chauffer opened the door and leaned inside. “Are you feeling alright, Senora?”

She pointed through the window at Molly. “My daughter is an excellent actress, Mr. Garcia. She looks very happy. But did you hear her say even once that she loved her fiancé?”

The old man shook his head. “No, I did not hear Molly say that.”

Norma nodded. “Ben Delmonico might be a lot of things, but ‘perfect’ for my daughter isn’t one of them.”

Emelle Gamble

Bio:

Emelle Gamble was a writer at an early age, bursting with the requisite childhood stories of introspection. These evolved into bad teen poetry and worse short stories. She took her first stab at full length fiction in an adult education writing class when her kids were in bed.  As M.L. Gamble, she published several romantic suspense novels with Harlequin. She has contracted with Soul Mate Publishing for Secret Sister, published in the summer of 2013, and Dating Cary Grant, a Spring 2014 release.

Once and Forever, an anthology which includes Emelle’s novella, Duets, came out on November 1st. Molly Harper, a full length novel starring the characters from Duets 3 years later will be released by Posh Publishing in January, 2014.

Emelle lives in suburban Washington D.C. with her husband, ‘Phil-the-fist’, her hero of thirty years, and two orange cats, Lucy and Bella. These girls, like all good villains, have their reasons for misbehaving. Her daughter, Olivia, and son, Allen, are happily launched on their own and contributing great things to society, their mother’s fondest wish.

Review Quotes:

Duets from Once and Forever

“The third story was Duets by Emelle Gamble. ..This was a very intriguing and somewhat sad story. A story of lovers separated by fate. When they meet again, sparks fly, but this story is not a fairy tale romance. This is more like real life, and made my heart hurt a little.” Long and Short Reveiws

Secret Sister

“Along with being a very unique and captivating plot, SECRET SISTER offers a shocking turn of the paranormal kind. So if you are the type of person that wants ordinary romance in a book, you won’t find that here. This is a story of friendship, family, and most of all, true love and what those things can mean. I cannot recommend SECRET SISTER strongly enough… “ Fresh Fiction, Fresh Reviews

The Chocolate Affair – Imogene Nix

Deanna has one love. The Scheherazade Chocolate Factory. When it’s bought out by an off world consortium, they send someone to inspect their purchase.

JD Ruan is their expert investigator. But JD has a secret. He’s a demon. And not just any kind of demon –a Pleasure Demon.

Secrets, abilities and hidden truths will find their way… especially when chocolate is involved.

Excerpt

His first view of Deanna McCalchy had taken in the glorious lush curves and midnight hair as she shook it free of the ugly confining hat she wore. Her blue dress molded to her body while the heat of instant arousal suffused him.

Now here stood a true goddess. The thought took him by surprise. He hadn’t thought in those terms for over a hundred years.

His small exclamation of interest had taken her by surprise and she had slipped. He moved with his preternatural speed extending his hands and catching her before she hit the floor.

As one of the two owners of Rustafan, he kept a low profile. He didn’t want his father’s minions to know where he and his sister, Entara, were. They had taken on Christabel as their media spokesperson well before she’d become Entara’s lover. This afforded them a gratefully accepted anonymity.

It was a habit to hide his personal life from others. Right now, he embraced the freedom that afforded him to scan the woman in his arms, feel the weight of her body.

She watched him silently while he righted her.

“Hello, what have I found here? A pleasure princess from Piero?” Knowing that the business mainly transacted with the pleasure planets, the words slipped out. He cringed as soon as he heard them. But she didn’t take offense at his words—at least not vocally, though a red tide crept over her cheeks.

“I don’t know who you are. But this is a restricted zone.” Her soft words of censure made him smile even as she gazed into his eyes. She was off balance, all the better for him to find out how the factory worked and maybe about her too. He shook himself mentally. That wasn’t why he was here.

“That’s okay, I’m supposed to be here.”

“And why are you supposed to be here?” Her words betrayed her interest, but he detected no knowledge of him in her mind and let the tension release from his muscles.

“I’ve been sent here to assess Scheherazade.” He held out one of his hands, and as she clasped it he felt a jolt of recognition, leaving him breathless for just a second. “I’m JD Ruan.”

“Oh heavens.” Her face pinked slightly again and he grinned, though he worked to contain his amusement at her old-fashioned comment.

My Lord’s Table – Alysha Ellis

Gently-bred Susan Brody arrives in 18th century London starving, penniless and desperate to find a job. When a chance-met acquaintance offers to help, Susan happily accepts a position as housekeeper in the home of Lord Winslade.

But the position is not what she expects it to be. She is greeted by a grim manservant, who locks her in a room and orders her to wear the scandalous costume she finds there.

She is forced to attend an erotic banquet of carnal and epicurean delights, presided over by the darkly sinister Lord Winslade.

Susan’s expectations of domestic service shatter as she is seduced into fulfilling appetites of an entirely different order.

Excerpt

Susan turned her head.  His dark eyes focused entirely on her. The debauchery happening a few feet away didn’t distract him for a second. “I’ve led a very sheltered life, Lord Winslade. Perhaps if I knew more of the world and its risks, I wouldn’t have found myself in a position where I am dependent on your good nature for my safety.”

“You are mistaken, my dear. I did not say I had a good nature.” His mouth twisted in a self-disparaging sneer.

“But you did promise me I would be safe. Does your promise hold only if I leave the room?” She dragged in a deep breath and let it go in a rush. “I would like to stay a little longer I think.”

Lord Winslade’s eyebrows rose.He regarded her intently. She met his gaze, refusing to look away. No matter what she had been brought up to believe, her old life was over. If she had to live in a new world, in a new level of society, then she needed to know how it functioned.

One of the other women leapt onto the table and began to remove her clothing. A burst of laughter and loud clapping rang out from the assembled guests. Susan gestured toward them. “I believed sexual relations were unpleasant for women. Clearly my information is incorrect.”

His lips relaxed into a curve. He reached out a strong finger and placed it under her chin, tipping it up, subjecting her face to scrutiny. “Estelle Milthorpe is a self-serving fool, but she has sent me something of more value than she could have known.” He dropped his hand and leaned back in his seat. “By all means observe what happens here tonight.” His voice dropped. “You may learn more about your own nature.”

She stared into his dark eyes.Something fluttered in her chest. She wanted him to touch her again. Her breasts felt tight and hot.She wondered how they’dfeel if he put his lips on them, to have him reveal the mysteries making these people behave so outrageously.

In the few moments her attention had been held by Lord Winslade the gathering had lost any pretension of decorum. A couple openly fornicated on the table. The woman lay on her back amid the debris of the meal, the man working away above her, his bare buttocks pumping. With each downward push the crowd cheered. Suddenly, the man stiffened and pulled back on his knees.

Susan watched in dry mouthed amazement as a rope of white fluid fountained out from the rigid pole of flesh thrusting out in front of him. It pumped and spurted.A well-endowed woman ripped down her bodice to allow the liquid to splash onto her bared breasts. With a roar of approval, the crowd watched as two men grabbed her and licked her clean.

The heat in Susan’s cheeks spread, turning into strange, pulsing warmth suffusing downward through her body. She shifted restlessly on her chair. Winslade leaned in closer. His warm, masculine scent raised the temperature another degree or two. “You’re enjoying this,” he said. She shivered as his breath teased her ear.

“I shouldn’t,” she replied. “I know it’s wrong, sinful…”

“Only if someone is being forced against her will,” he said. “Here there is only willing participation in pleasure.”

“But society says…”

He spoke with cool assertiveness. “I am not concerned with the strictures of petty-minded prudes.”

Never On A Sundae – Seanna Smythe:

Delicious delights you’ve dreamed of but Never on a Sundae. He was confident that what he was about to ask for wouldn’t be your average ice cream dream.

Evie doesn’t believe love is forever, so when things get a little too hot with Sydney-sider, Aidan, she disappears to Newcastle and buys an ice-cream parlor, Never on a Sundae. But fate conspires against her when Aidan rides into town on his Harley looking for a unique idea for an ice cream cake for his brother’s bachelor party. Can Aidan melt Evie’s heart?

Excerpt

Aidan pushed away from the doorframe as his body responded to the memories. If she wasn’t so absorbed in tasting her creation, he would’ve thought she taunted him. The banana slipped between her lips with a smooth rhythm as chocolate syrup gathered at the corners of her tempting mouth.

“Better than sex!” she declared, licking at the chocolate.

“Then you’re doing it wrong,” Aidan said, deciding she should know he was there.

Thick dark lashes flew open to reveal big, baby blue eyes as she slowly withdrew the banana from her lips. “Aidan!” Shock registered in her voice at the sight of him. “How long have you been standing there?”

“Long enough.” A lazy smile trickled across his lips as he watched her reaction.

“I didn’t hear you come in.” She pushed away from the counter and turned around, her hands searching for something to put the banana onto.

“Apparently not.” The lazy smiled widened into a wicked grin. A leggy blonde, sucking on a banana and thinking about sex? Now there was a combination no red-blooded, heterosexual male could fail to enjoy.

She looked at her chocolate stained fingers as her hand hovered over a damp cloth near the blender. With a shrug she licked the chocolate from her fingers. One by one, she treated each finger to the flick of a smooth pink tongue.

“What brings you back to town?” Seemingly satisfied she couldn’t possibly get any more chocolate off her fingers, she leaned over the sink to turn on the tap.

“Danny’s bachelor party.” Aidan stuffed his fists into his pockets to ease the rub of his jeans. The view of that sweet ass as the skirt caressed firm cheeks almost finished what the banana had started.

“Ahh, Danny.” Evie shook the excess water from her hands and patted them dry on her apron. She turned back to give Aidan a once over of her own. “He swore it would be a cold day in hell before he got married…looks like your little brother has had a change of heart.”

Aidan watched the movements of her long-fingered hands as she removed her apron, folding it neatly. Those neatly manicured nails had once caressed the contours of his back, teased his nipples and stroked the very part of him that now ached for release. Evie had not lost her touch. Just one look and he was panting for more. He shifted from one booted foot to the other as Evie stepped toward him.

“Looks like you have a small problem,” she said, stopping within two feet of him, her eyes boldly raking the strained denim.

Still the same Evie, the girl who didn’t hesitate to say what was on her mind. He smiled and leaned forward enough to whisper into the space between them. “We both know it was never a small problem. We could always put the left over chocolate sauce to better use.”

Evie stepped closer, her head angled toward his until their lips were inches apart.

Flavor Of The Month – Bianca Sarble:

When Cate Gallagher thinks her day can’t get any worse, Patrick Garrett comes along to prove her wrong. The sexy stranger awakens her long forgotten libido but she knows from past experiences his type is best avoided at all costs.

Patrick is sure the chemistry between them will set the sheets on fire, if only she would give him a chance. He hatches a seduction plan to show her exactly how right they could be.

But getting the girl isn’t the only obstacle to their Happy Ever After. Misunderstandings and assumptions bring their heat level to boiling point and threaten to scorch their love.

Can Cate overcome her past and let Patrick show her she’s not just the Flavour Of The Month?

Excerpt

Taking a break from the Sunday morning breakfast rush, Cate rested her head on the cool surface of the stainless steel countertop wishing the relief she needed would kick in. Either from the pain meds she’d taken for the massive headache, or the two blocks of chocolate she’d eaten to ease the sexual frustration. It seemed now the feminine parts of her had come out of hibernation, they wanted to feast on spring berries. Specifically, Patrick’s berries.

Tying her apron over her work uniform of white T-Shirt and black shorts, she looked up the length of the counter. There he was ordering coffee from Millie, complete with panty-drenching smile. If he aimed that thing her way again, she’d need another block or two of chocolate, which wouldn’t keep her in a size fourteen for long. She tried to turn with the hope he hadn’t seen her.

“Hey, Cate!”

No such luck. She slowly turned to the ordering station.

“How’s your head today?”

She smiled with a level of enthusiasm she didn’t feel. “I’m fine. Thanks.”

“I see my raw masculinity still hasn’t won you over. Can I at least tempt you to sit and have a coffee with me?”

His grin was infectious. His voice was like velvet on her very sensitive nerves.

“Ah…no.”

“No? Is it because I knocked you down with my reckless driving? I can promise you’d make it to your chair without incident.”

He made her laugh. She’d give him that. “Sorry, but the fact that you drive a BMW and wear designer labels doesn’t impress me. Been there, done that. Plus, it’s just Millie and I here today so I really don’t have time to sit around drinking coffee.”

“Got me all worked out have you? We’ll see about that. I know you won’t be able to resist my animal magnetism once you get to know me.” He glanced at his watch. “I’ll just wait around to see if you change your mind.” He grinned and stepped backward.

“I doubt I will.”

He just grinned at her, almost in challenge

The Banquet – Kate Belle:

Unattractive and lonely James is a chef and restaurant owner who is obsessed with Sheba, a sexy celebrity chef famous for her aphrodisiac recipes which have saved James from a life of involuntary celibacy. James has studied Sheba’s recipes and created the ultimate in aphrodisiac desserts – chili and rose infused chocolate – a recipe that never fails to lure women into his lonely bed.

James takes the opportunity to meet Sheba at a book signing during the Sydney Writers Festival and woos her with a gift of his chocolates. Sheba finds James’ special dessert irresistible and exchanges a night of pleasure for the recipe. Two months later James receives an invitation to Sheba’s annual banquet, a mysterious event everyone who’s anyone in the hospitality industry is aware of but knows little about. Nervous and out of his depth, James attends and is introduced to a world where the boundaries between food and sex are entirely blurred.

Extract

Sheba tentatively picked out a chocolate and pressed it to her outstretched tongue. James felt the familiar tug in his groin. Every one of Sheba’s movements elicited raw lust in him. How did she do it, he wondered, wishing he could adjust the bulge in his jeans without her noticing.

When Sheba opened her eyes they were aflame. She licked her glistening lips.

“How do you make these? I must know.”

James smiled apologetically. “It’s a secret. I’m afraid if I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

Sheba frowned, pouting prettily. He could see she was used to having her own way. She picked another chocolate from the box, thrusting it between her lips and sucking enthusiastically. James watched her cheeks hollow as her tongue worked the delicacy against the roof of her mouth. She closed her eyes and a flush came to her cheeks. As he’d expected, the recipe stirred desire within her. He was delighted the concoction worked as well on Sheba as it did on more ordinary women.

When she opened her eyes she gazed at him from under long lashes, a sexy smile turning up the corners of her mouth.

“But you will tell me,” she crooned, reaching up to stroke a solitary finger over his adam’s apple to the hollow at the base of his throat, “since I inspired the recipe, I think I deserve to know, yes?”

A swoon threatened to swallow James whole. He rested his fingers on the edge of the table to steady himself. As he gazed into Sheba’s round eyes a wondrous realization dawned upon him. He held all the cards here. He had something she badly wanted and could probably ask whatever price he wanted for it. He watched, captivated, as she took another chocolate, placed it seductively on her pink tongue, and made little moaning noises as she chewed on it. All he wanted right then was to bury himself in Sheba’s generous mouth.

“Perhaps you could persuade me in some way. . .”

James held his breath, feeling his heart pound in his chest, wondering if he’d been too bold. Sheba surveyed him, tapping her index finger against a plump bottom lip as she considered his proposition. A slow, sensual smile spread across her face.

“I can be terribly persuasive.” Sheba stuck two fingers over the waistband of his jeans and pulled his pelvis toward her. “Perhaps you’d like to come back to my hotel room and I’ll try to prise the secret out of you.”

Sudden heat rushed to James’ cheeks. This was more than he dared wish for. He blessed the power of his secret Mexican chili as he nodded his assent. He’d share the recipe with her, but not the species of chili he used. He’d searched long and hard to find it, the chili was rare, and he wasn’t about to give the knowledge away for a quick fuck in a hotel, not even with the woman of his dreams. The chili was the only thing that gave him power over women, including Sheba.

“I’d love to be persuaded. Just don’t torture me.”

She cupped his face in both her hands, leaning in closer so he could smell her minty breath.

“Darling, pleasure is far more persuasive than pain.”
