Vampire Layla is awake after sleeping 2,000 years and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

“Who are you?” Nubiti, the golden lady began to kick and scratch at Layla’s hands.

“Doo…not…fee-arrh…meee…” Her vocal cords stilted the strange words even to her ears, with a rasping halt that sounded too deep to be human.

When Nubiti screamed and kicked her in the face, the spiked heel of her sandal lodged in Layla’s eye.

“Nubiti…” The low rumble Layla emitted was meant to sooth but she could not temper the power behind it. Unable to find calming words, she shook her head as the woman’s eyes rolled.  Nubiti was keening now, hysterical in fear.

Layla crawled over the woman, rubbing the dark, glittering stones on her garment, like stars in the night, which left most of her body bare. The golden lady looked into the eye she’d ruptured with her shoe, her own blue eyes widening as the fissure closed.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors.  I am featuring 8 sentences of my new paranormal romance Love Entwined, A Cardiff Novel Book 2. Here are Roman and Amelie, warrior and witch, their first meeting in this lifetime.

Love Entwined

“…and I would like you to work on the designs.”

“Me?” She was close enough to hear him chuckle under his breath.

Maybe it was three months of pent up anger at being—for lack of a better word—manipulated in her home. Or, maybe it was three months of the best sex—real or imagined—she’d ever had in her life with a phantom who chose to introduce himself at this very inconvenient time when she was trying to quit her exhausting job. It was also just as likely the fact that her warm and generous dream lover was actually a pampered and conceited heir who probably had more woman than the time required to service them. Whatever the reason, she had reached her limit.

She faced Mr. Cardiff. Folding her arms, she acknowledged what had passed between them and accepted his dare. “It would be my pleasure.”

Weekend Writing Warriors 7-21-13

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors. I missed a few weeks getting my new blog up and I’m so glad to be back with a snippet from my first novel, Falcon’s Angel, A Cardiff Novel Book 1. Here is Falcon at work.

Falcon walked over to the interrogation table. “Three days in Quajing Prison not enough for you? Sit down.”

Max stepped over the prone guard to sit back down in his chair. “Solitary confinement. You bastards…” he rasped.

Falcon took the seat at the other end of the table. “Max, tone it down or you are not going to like what happens here.”

Sore Neck got up from the floor and linked Max’s chain to the seat.

Blood trickled down Max’s face. He shook his head so it wouldn’t run in his eye.

Sore Neck gave the chain a malicious tug before he went to hold up the other corner of the room. Max licked the blood off his busted lip like it belonged to Sore Neck.
