Rhonda L. Print & Justified!

Welcome, Rhonda Print, with the newest addition to her SINS Novel Series! I’ve been waiting on this one.

Character: Leah Wolfe has an interesting
story to tell.

1.  What is Leah Wolfe like? Leah Wolfe is a kick-ass, no
nonsense woman with abilities that she is just beginning to understand. She was
abandoned by her own mother as a young teen and forged her own life on the
streets until she was caught in the crossfire of a rival gang war. The
detective assigned to that case later adopted Leah. Wilson and his wife, Alli
encourage Leah to embrace her special ‘gifts’.

2.  What does Leah do best? What is the perfect location
for this action?
Kill Vampires. Period. Leah was a cop once and she left
because the criminals seemed to have more rights than the victims. She works
for a government organization – SINS – that tracked and killed rogue
supernaturals while doing consulting work for the police department in the
Arizona desert town that she loves.

3.  What drives Leah to do the things she does? Leah is
determined to try and live a ‘normal’ life. Her personal life went to hell when
her fiance, Joaquin Wildhorse, refuses to accept her abilities. Leah has a
fierce sense of independence and justice. She doesn’t like to kill but she sure
as hell won’t hesitate, especially if the supernatural is threatening those
that she loves.

4.  You are introduced to Leah. Is she happy to meet you? Leah
prefers the company of her close family and friends.

5.  What is Leah’s favorite guilty pleasure? Coffee,
Coffee and Coffee.

6.  How would Leah describe herself? Leah has never been
comfortable with her abilities. Alli calls them a gift, Leah considers them to
be a curse. They’ve caused her more heartache than anything else.

7.  What is Leah’s weakness? Ian Nightwalker. He swaggers
into her life and awakens feelings in her that she’d prefer to leave dormant.
She refuses to love him. If only she could convince him to leave her alone…

8.    Where does Leah go to regroup/unwind? If she’s not in
her small adobe home, far away from everyone, she can be found at Luigi’s. It’s
a small, family-owned Italian restaurant where Leah could catch up with her cop
friends and relax with the best damn Italian food ever.

9.  What does Leah live for? Leah knows she’ll never get
the white-picket fence life. The gunshot wound she got as a teen made sure
she’d never be able to have children of her own and her break-up with Joaquin
ended any thought she’d have for a happily ever after. She focuses on her
adopted parents, Wilson and Alli. Her best friend Jess and her son, Leah’s
God-son round out her personal life. Everything else is thrown into her work.

10. What will Leah kill for? Love. She’d kill to protect
her family and friends, of course. Other than that, she kills for justice.

A Few Questions for Leah

1.  If
you could have one super power in your existence, what would it be?
I don’t
want any damn powers. I just want to be normal.

2.  A
biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in
six words or less?
Walking the line: Supernatural vs. Human

3.  If
money were not an object, where would you most like to live?
I’m happy right
where I am. I can feel the emotions of people around me so my quiet little
home, far away from everyone, is just perfect for me.

4.  I
can never
have children because I was shot.

5.  The
next time I
start to fall in love I will run the other way

6.  Why
do I always
think I can be normal?

7.  My
favorite flavor is
coffee because really, what else is there.

8.  I
love
Alli, Wilson, Jess and Oscar because I know they accept me the
way that I am
.

9.  How
much death can you take?
I can take as much as I have to as long as
it doesn’t involve my family and friends
.

Why? Because if I don’t kill
rogue vampires, they’re going to kill innocent people. Who else is going to do
it
?

10.  Name
one thing you must do before you die, and why.
Grow old!

Danita’s Wicked Wednesday: Gary Starta & Demon Inhibitions

You want wicked? Say no more. Here’s Gary Starta and Demon Inhibitions.

Gary Starta: I tend to write mix genre, or, what I dub fiction on the
fringe of genre.

My new release, Demon Inhibitions, threads sci fi, urban fantasy, suspense,
romance, horror and mystery.

I usually anchor my novels in science fiction but find it fascinating and
almost impossible not to blend these other genres into the mix. You could
compare it to a meal. While there’s nothing wrong with eating a piece of fish
by itself day after day you might find it more tasty to add broccoli (horror),
rice (mystery), salad (romance), bread(fantasy) and dessert (suspense).

To be more precise, Demon Inhibitions consists of:

Sci fi: Agent Caitlin Diggs believes a genetically made soul stealer is responsible
for recent murders.

Horror: The soul stealer has escaped custody and crosses a parallel universe
dragging Diggs with him via wormhole.

Urban Fantasy: Diggs is assisted by a Wiccan investigator and a succubus. In
her parallel universe, demons outnumber humans and a preternatural branch of
the FBI deals with their crimes.

Romance: Diggs enters an altered reality and a love triangle emerges. Her new
boss Charles Grant is beyond handsome but the other version of her friend
Stanford Carter is stirring feelings she never had for his alternate.

Hitches: Grant doesn’t know ‘his’ Diggs has been killed by the soul stealer.
Alternate Carter has been turned into a demon. Would romance with Carter change
her as well?

Mystery: Why is the soul stealer hell bent on eradicating a teen whose singing
voice inhibits demon violence?

Suspense: Diggs faces the prospect that conventional weapons will not subdue
her fugitive. Can her newly acquired paranormal abilities give her a fighting
chance?

I’m sure we’ve all read great stories that brought some or all of these
elements together. They usually get boxed under one category for sales
purposes. Maybe someday a multiple-genre tag will be born. After all,
paranormal romance is still a fairly young genre and is ever growing.
Change does happen.

Demon Inhibitions is out now. Please stop by my FB page for updates! http://www.facebook.com/GaryStartaSci…

Demon Inhibitions Excerpt

When she found I had visited Manners, Briana began scurrying about her house,
scooping up a pair of scissors and a red candle. Before I could speak further,
she came at me. I backed away from her in fright. Her placid face revealed
nothing malevolent. But the shears were headed right for me. I tried to dive
away from the contradiction. Who was the real Briana? The sweet woman who made
cookies for me–or her shears wielding maniac counterpart now standing before
me? She screamed not to worry. I heard a snip. I felt a strange sensation. Not
pain. But something was no longer attached to me. It was a piece of my hair.
She caught the floating lock in her hands as if it were a runaway feather.

“It is very important we get to work, Caitlin.” Too stunned to process the
weird moment, I could barely utter a groan.

Then she explained how she must protect me. “He’ll surely make a visitation now
that he has met you.”

I tried to explain it was a good thing. I would probably get a vision of him
and then I could determine his part in the slayings.

She interrupted. “A visitation is what he’ll do to you. I don’t know how to
break this to you but the cat judge is an incubus. He’ll surely come to you in your
dreams. And in case he is our murderer, you’ll need a protection spell,
pronto.”

I reminded her I carried a firearm. I had worked in the FBI.

“No earthbound weapons can harm the judge once he joins with you. An incubus
enters your dream world.”

“How do you know this?” My tone grew edgy. She had obviously withheld knowledge
of Manners. Maybe the two were friends or even lovers. And she just admitted an
incubus could have committed these crimes without fear of being harmed or
caught.

“I know things because I’m a witch, Caitlin. That explanation will have to
suffice for now.”

“If you’re truly a witch, Briana, you must know he’s our best suspect.”

She had me there.

I settled in for the spell.

“I will create a mind shield for you, Caitlin Diggs.”

She began to chant, inviting me to join her.

“I call upon the helpful powers of my ancestors. Please protect and shield me
from harm. By the ancient ancestral power, blessed be!”

Briana played soft Celtic music for me as we waited for the spell to take
effect. I tried to distract myself with the lovely dulcet tones of harps and
violins. It almost worked until my stomach rumbled–again. We never had supper.
Briana was too intent on saving my ass. For what seemed hours we held hands
waiting for the candle to burn down. I had plenty of time to drink in the
ambience of the McFadden household. Floral print furniture and lacy doilies
surrounded me. But most disturbing, a poster of Cher is depicting the actress
as a witch in the film Witches of Eastwick, hung right before my eyes. When the
candle finally expired I yawned and thanked Briana.

“Don’t thank me yet. The night is now upon us. We must return to your house if
we hope to engage the judge.”

“Won’t your presence discourage Manners from coming?”

“No.” She paused to smile. “You could have twenty police armed to the hilt and
he’d still come. Nothing from the waking world can harm him.”

I muttered something unintelligible even to me.

“I’ll be in the next room to supervise so to speak. When he comes I’ll sense
it. I will then cast a binding spell so he can’t attack you – or worse, drain
you. Now the spell won’t last indefinitely so you won’t want to waste time with
small talk. Hopefully you’ll be able to determine his innocence or guilt in your
dream.”

I had once interrogated an evil man named Crowley in a dream state. It didn’t
go so well. But at least he didn’t threaten to harm me. Maybe he couldn’t. I
still don’t know; but I was sure of one thing if the judge threatened me in any
way I would defend myself. I didn’t care what Briana said about the dream and
waking worlds. I went to bed packing a handgun.

~ * ~

A full moon bathed my bedroom in bluish haze. It kept my eyes from closing.
Normally I would have drawn the curtains on the nocturnal intrusion, but
tonight I was hosting so to speak. I felt I was setting a better trap or
“invitation” to Manners if I left the light on. Briana would have probably
scolded me if she were capable of listening to my silent ranting. She had
explained to me several times Manners would not be traveling via car, plane or
broom for that matter. His appearance would be completely ethereal to all
waking humans. He would meet me via an altered state of mind, in a dream or
alpha state, where his thoughts and presence could transcend any physical traps
an overly anxious former FBI agent (me) might feel compelled to set. It
wouldn’t matter if I shined a lantern in my window or posted Rottweillers on
around-the-clock guard duty, Manners would be oblivious to it. Briana stated
this very emphatically, employing wild gyrating arm movements that nearly had
me fearing she would turn me into a rat if I didn’t give her my undivided
attention. So I sat and listened to her for an hour after we completed the
spell. When my eyelids began drooping, she ordered me to bed. She took up
residence in the adjoining guest room with Celeste. With a click of a doorknob,
Briana could be at my bedside in seconds. But when I finally began to absorb
the notion that Manners would not be using the front door to meet me, fear
began to take hold. How would her presence help me? She could monitor my dreams
all she wanted, but ultimately it would be up to me to break free of Manner’s
paranormal grip-provided one: he was an incubus and two: he would still deem an
appearance necessary to either protest his innocence or quiet my suspicions of
him once for and all. My mind finally began to drift into that sleepy state
where your thoughts start running into one another. How would I converse with
him in the dream world? And would my gun be at my bedside in this dream? My
brain felt like rubber. My eyelids finally shut. A faint hint of blue light
seeped through them and then the next thing I knew…

“Who, what…what do you want?” I sat straight up and stammered as a presence
took shape over my brass four-post bed. At least I determined I could talk,
albeit not very intelligently in my dream state. The shape continued to hover
over me, within arm’s reach. I twisted in my covers, attempting to lunge
towards my dresser drawer where I kept my gun. As my hand continued to fumble
for the dresser knob, coldness brushed against my backside. At that instant, I
gave up my hunt for the gun and reverted to my backside, hoping confrontation
might keep the invading demon at bay. I shouted. “Back off and identify
yourself.” I felt silly. I couldn’t very well command this thing to put its
hands behind its back–if it had hands–let alone expect it to adhere to laws
and protocols devised by those living in the real world.

The thing, best described as a floating transparent body of liquid, actually
started to comply. It reversed itself away from me, about a yard or so. Now it
hovered over my Victorian vanity chair. I seriously hoped its liquid makeup
wouldn’t drip all over my prized antique. It began to glow blue, probably
because it was in the direct path of a moonbeam.

“Now tell me who are you.” Hoarse and raspy, my voice no longer sounded like
mine. I tried to recall my vision where I had been speaking to the spirit of
Alastair Crowley. My voice had sounded like mine then. In fact, I’d felt no
different in that dream state whatsoever; I had classified that experience as a
vision. But now, as I sat cowering in my bed, I felt more as if in a dream. I
willed my legs to move, but like in a dream, they were uncooperative as if an
iron vise was keeping them in place. As I struggled to escape my covers, the
thing spoke to me in a whispered voice. Whatever it was, it was now inside my
head!

Danita Minnis: Inspired by the Dark and Scary

I’m being interviewed by Nicole Hurley-Moore!
Yes, I’m still afraid of things that go bump in the night but, oh, how I love writing about them.

My debut paranormal romance Falcon’s Angel is a haunting tale of reincarnation. If you love dark and scary with your romance, you will love this centuries-old fight with devil-worhsippers.

Danita’s Ten for Yazmin Subha – Wildfire

Welcome, Yazmin!

  Hi Danita.

Thank you for having
me over to visit. As you know, I am really excited at the moment because I
have
had my first ever release, Wildfire came out on 24th
August with Breathless Press.

Yazmin, how did you choose your genre? What made you write this
book?
Well it started on one bored evening when I was chatting
online with my Critique group, UCW. All the ladies seemed to be talking about
their current WIP and I was just saying how bored I was. Cherie Nicholls, who
is a fabulous author, set a five hundred-word challenge to include a carwash, a
dress and a stranger. That was the start and once my friends read it they
demanded more which eventually became Wildfire.

Writers write what they know, and must observe the world.
Are you a first born, middle or last child and how does this shape your view of
the world?
I am the third child out of four. I think I always fought
for recognition by my older siblings and tried to look after my younger brother.
So I tend to stand up for myself and have a strong protective instinct as well,
now that I am an adult.

Where is your favorite place to write? In bed, which is
where I am as I write this!

You are introduced to your favorite author. Who is it, and
what is that one burning question you must ask them?
WOW! Well it would be
Harper Lee who wrote ‘To Kill A Mocking Bird.’ Why that story told in that way?

Inquiring minds want to know…tell readers something about
you that no one knows.
Hmm hard one…I bunked off school once with a friend. But a
family friend saw us, so we went back to school to own up. We figured if we
turn ourselves in then we would be in less trouble than if we let the family
friend tell our folk who would go bonkers!!!

You are stranded on a deserted island with only a back pack
for company. What three items are in your survival pack?
I would say my kindle
but it would run out of charge so a book, probably ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ as
it has been a while since I read that or The Complete Works of William
Shakespeare as there are quite a few I have not read.
Photographs of family and friends. Is it bad to say a
hairbrush? I am not vain but it does go wild if not tamed!

If you could have one super power in your existence, what
would it be?
Invisibility! I will let you work out why…

Favorite snack? Chocolate of course!

Indy 500 – Do you know how to get where you’re going or do
you drive the speed limit?
I usually drive the speed limit!

Blurb

Braden has searched all his
life for the one who will help him regain his humanity and give him absolute
power. One bite and he knew Millie was the one he had been
searching for.
Millie, a fiery red head is the last one in the line of high born witches who
would rather die than give herself to this vampire. After all he killed her
mother for
her blood as well, didn’t he?
But in a twist of fate Millie learns too late what the truth is. But
will death be the only thing that unites them?

Excerpt

Millie knew this wasn’t a good idea. Brad wasn’t a man one
could say no to. It was a stupid idea to hide in the carwash. She prayed no one
would want to wash their car at three AM as she squeezed between the rollers.
Her heart beat fast. She took a gulp of air and then blew it out to try to calm
herself.

No footsteps could be heard, only the soft whistle of the
trees as they swayed in the warm night air. She relaxed her shoulders and
sighed. Maybe Brad had decided to no longer pursue her. Maybe that blonde with
the big boobs had caught his attention at last, and he had gone off with her to
a quiet spot to find out if they were real or not.

Wait a few more minutes, she told herself.

After a few minutes she pried herself out and took a step
over the roller by her knees. All of a sudden the whir started and the rollers
began to move. What the hell. How… Her mind ran on ahead of her. The soap was
dispensed and the rotation of the rollers caught her attention. The darkness
did not help; the route out wasn’t clear. The rollers in front of her whipped
against her and sprayed suds and warm water that soaked her silk dress so that
it clung to her.

She leaned back and tried to gain a hold of something to
anchor her. Damn him. How had he found her? She knew there was something
strange about him when he happened to be near her all the time. Even when he
was across the room, within a blink of an eye he came to stand next to her—in
her space.

The warm water, combined with the sensation of the soft,
soapy bristles tantalized her skin. The rollers brushed against her and sent
electrical currents to her clit. Hell…how could she be getting turned on by
this?

Something warm blew across her face. A silent kiss…an
unknown hand…lingered on her cheek.

Got you! The voice was in her head.

How can that be? she thought. She shook her head to get rid
of the fuzziness caused by the water as it cascaded over her body. Warm hands
caressed her breasts. Her senses heightened as one unknown hand stroked down to
the juncture between her legs. The fingers flicked and pressed her sensitive
clit and a wet tongue licked at her neck. She was lost to the sensations all
round her. How could he do this? She felt him near, but he wasn’t there. How?
The fingers stroked harder and she could not help but arch into the hand.

Mine alone. Open for me. Let me in come into you.
His command was as urgent as the brushes that stroked her skin. At last he
emerged before her—tall, broad, and dark. His mouth came down on hers and their
wet lips met. Their tongues danced as his hands pulled her to his chest. He stroked her ass and pulled up her dress. She shivered against him.

Danita’s TBR Spotlight: Nicole Hurley-Moore – Until The Stars Burn Cold

Welcome, Nicole Hurley-Moore!

I love the book cover, love the premise and this is now marked as To Be Read. So, tell us all about your new release!

Thanks Danita, for letting me drop by.

How the
smallest of things can inspire a story.

Much to my poor husband’s horror, I have a love of
jewellery. I spend more time than I should,
looking at catalogues, jewellery
sites and Ebay. We all have our Achilles’ heel and this happens to be mine.
However, it is because of one of these illicit sessions that I came up with the
idea for my latest book, Until The Stars
Burn Cold
. I happened across a picture of a silver ring with a figure in
the shape of a man on it. At the time, I didn’t pay it an awful lot of
attention. If I remember correctly, my response was something along the lines
of “
Oooo… that’s kind of interesting”.

But the image of the ring kept coming back to me and merging
with magic and the Arabian Nights. Yes I admit it, I obliviously read this too
many times as a kid. All of a sudden a story about star crossed lovers, curses
and rings began to percolate. Soon, the time travel romance of Until The Stars Burn Cold took shape.

And no, I didn’t but the ring… but now, I kind of wish I
had.

Looking back on my books, I realized that there’s, a ring,
trinket or necklace featured in all of them. Even my upcoming medieval
Christmas novella is awash with jewels. Um… maybe I really do have a wee bit
of a problem.  :/

Jewellery aside, I suppose what I’m trying to say is that
inspiration can come from anywhere and usually when we least expect it. So be
open, because you never know when the smallest of things could snag your
imagination and inspire you.

Until
The Stars Burn Cold

Forbidden love

Long ago in ancient Persia, there
lived a pair of star crossed lovers. In a desperate bid, the lovers sought to
flee the town of Adwan. But they were caught and torn apart. For his insolence,
Jinn is cursed into a ring. Ages pass and empires crumble… and Jinn is still
forever bound in a circle of frozen silver. Bound, that is until present day
antiques dealer, Mia Templeton accidentally releases him. Mia is beautiful and
Jinn, finds her somehow familiar. Is love eternal and evil everlasting? Can the
power that destroyed his life in Adwan, reach through the centuries and
threaten his future?

Snippet
from Until the Stars Burn Cold

The force of his kiss almost
made her stagger back, but his strong arms held her in place, in the one place
she had been dreaming about all day. His hand cradled the back of her neck and
made her feel treasured. Mia felt his body press against hers, and even through
his wet clothes she could feel the heat. Winding her arms about his neck she
felt the cold and damp cotton of his shirt beneath her hands. His kiss was
filled with lust and longing and it floored her; as her heart began to beat
faster. She knew that she had never been kissed with such intensity.

“I need you,” he murmured
against her lips. “Be with me, Mia. I need to touch you.”

“I need to touch you too.” Her
hands slipped from around his neck to the small buttons that ran down the front
of his shirt. Deftly her fingers moved until the shirt hung undone, and she ran
her hands over his smooth skin which was cool from the rain. She ran her hands
higher until the rested on his shoulders, rising up onto her toes and running a
series of slow kisses against his neck. His skin tasted of cinnamon.

Jinn lifted Mia into his arms
and carried her into the front room. Winding her arm about his neck she rested
her head on his shoulder, his shirt was wet but she didn’t care. She breathed
in his scent, there was a hint of spice mixed with the clearness of rain. He
sat her down on the cream sectional before shrugging out of his shirt and
letting it fall to the ground.

Kneeling before her, he slowly
untied the cord from around her waist. She felt the gown part and his fingers
glide over her skin. He edged the fabric over her shoulders until a pool of
apple green silk puddled around her. His eyes never left her face as he pushed
the thin black silk straps of her chemise over her arms, first one and then the
other. Mia swallowed as she stared back into his dark eyes. Standing up, Jinn
pulled her to her feet and watched as the chemise fell from her body. The black
silk rippled like waves as it slipped over her warm skin and revealed her.

Danita Minnis: Naughty or Nice G*i*v*e*a*w*a*y Hop!

Naughty or Nice?

Warning: These two can not tell the truth. They are not what they seem, this assassin and this thief.

Our story starts with a meeting between Falcon and Angel. A chance meeting in a dark alley? Hardly. For them, there are no coincidences. Soon, they will be running for their lives and that is definitely not by chance. Not as long as il Dragone wants them dead.

With any luck Falcon and Angel will remember who they are and what they must do to stay one step ahead of il Dragone. What they must do to stay alive.

“Where to, Angel?”

Angelina stood up. “Casa di Città. Do you know it?”

“Do I know it? Hey, you took my room.” He took a
step closer, unable to stop himself.

No, he could have stopped himself. He was trained
for this role and could slip in and out of it easily. He just didn’t want to.

She was making him feel things, like this was
something other than an investigation. This could be their first date, if it
were not for the gun in his jacket. And the Stradivarius.

“Was that your room?” There was not a shred of
sincerity in the sympathetic smile that did not reach Angelina’s eyes.

He gave her a curt nod. “I even called ahead, made a
reservation. When I got there they told me it was a full house.”

The way she bit her lip in an attempt to stifle a
giggle drew him even closer. When he reached behind her for the violin case,
hard nipples grazed his chest.

A jolt of lust shot straight through his loins,
nearly crippling him. She did not move away, and that was not good.

He knew why he was reacting to her this way. He
would have to be dead not to. She was gorgeous. But for all she knew, he could
be a serial killer. He tried to ignore the fact that she wanted him too. She
was too trusting and at this rate, he would have her horizontal in minutes.

He jerked to attention in his jeans, took a step
back and handed her the case. “The owner smiled when he told me this.”

“Signor Parisi smiled? I don’t believe I have ever
seen him do that. That’s a bit rude, isn’t it?” This time the giggle erupted
from her in husky melody. It wrapped around that part of him that wanted to
pound into her.

She turned away, but not before her cheeks flushed
with color. “If I were you I should never darken Signor Parisi’s doorstep
again. Take my business elsewhere.”

There were two reasons he didn’t pull her close and
kiss her then. One was the earlier attack. She had experienced enough today,
and things had suddenly become complicated. Second, he needed her complete
trust. They must be friends first. Still, he wondered how long she would make
him wait before he could lay her down.

“Tony?”

“Yes?” The warm vanilla limbs wrapped around him
disintegrated before his eyes.

“I asked where you took your business.”

“I’m staying with a friend on the Piazza Barberi until
the tourists either have mercy or have had their full of Naples and a room
becomes available.”

“That’s near the old churchyard, isn’t it? I pass it
on the way to the Conservatory.”

“So, Bella, we are
neighbors. Let’s go home.”

Falcon’s Angel is available now:

Falcon’s
Angel blurb

She’s a classical violinist and daughter of a dynasty with one
passion; her Stradivarius.

undercover to track down a thief. But he is not the only killer in search of
the violin.

they can remember.

Angelina wants to go unrecognized when she leaves her family’s
Yorkshire estate to play in a symphony in Italy. But the Stradivarius, a gift
from her deceased instructor, opens a door to hatred that is centuries old.

Falcon’s Angel is a paranormal romance of love
that ended in tragedy in eighteenth century England. That love is tested in a
fight of good versus evil some two hundred years later. This time around Falcon
and Angel have an opportunity to learn something that can put a stop to the
cycle of murder and mayhem.

Danita Minnis Wicked Wednesday: Cynthia Arsuaga – Born Again in Dreams

Cynthia Arsuaga visits with her latest release, Born Again in Dreams! Here’s three of my favorite words for you: Paranormal, Hot, Hunk. You simply must read Cynthia’s excerpt. I fear Merliah will burn to cinders…

Thanks for having me here today Danita.

I just returned from Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sunday for a special
high school class reunion. Actually, it encompassed five classes—1969-1973. The
entire weekend was a whirlwind of meeting old friends and by default, even some
promoting. I was so surprised that everyone sought me out to discuss my
writing! It was so exciting and I felt so humbled. See, I was the very “nerdy”
and shy girl in school. No one ever suspected that what I write now is what
they remembered at all about me. I found their surprise amusing. I rolled with
it and told them I write erotic romance more on the raunchy side. They loved
it. Next, year is our class reunion for real, not shared. We are taking a
cruise and I’ll be writing a little story about it and some of the actual
classmates will be part of the book. They are excited to find their stories
created in fiction and love the idea their “love lives” will be depicted more
on the raunchy side. I love it! An event for fun turned into a delicious idea
for another story.

To coincide with the weekend, I did a bit of research for my next story
in the Born Vampire Series. The storyline through all the stories takes place
in Virginia Beach and also Miami. The most recent release, which I’m presenting
today, takes place in Miami so the next one is in Virginia Beach. To let you
get an idea of what Born Trouble is about, here is the log line: A cowboy and
an exotic dancer are roped into a world filled with trouble.

Guess which one I did research on!

Well, that’s all I have to share with ya’ll, except for the excerpt for
my latest release, Born Again in Dreams. Enjoy!

BLURB:

The Master of His Domain

Sorin Bochinsky, Master and Commander of the Eastern European Blood
Family, controls everyone and everything around him, except the woman of his
dreams with the face of an angel prevents his needed rest. She’s the light to
his dark and pained existence. The search begins to find the mysterious woman
of his nightmares before he goes insane.

An Angel Awakens

Merliah Travers suffered more than serious injuries from a car accident
over four years ago. She awakens in a place where the pain and scars have
hidden her away from the world. A fantasy lover leads her out of the darkness
and into the light, then discovers a special ability acquired during the coma
has put her in danger.

Two lost, scarred souls battle their inner demons and a fanatic killer
to unite as one, to never be alone, and be born again in dreams, forever.

ADULT EXCERPT:

He stood up and pulled her to her feet at the same time. Merliah’s gaze
dropped to the waistband of his black trousers, and then to the bulge at his
groin, and with her eyes burning with intensity, he realized her highly aroused
state. He didn’t need to use his vampire skills. Their times together in the
dreams made him keenly aware of her preferences and desires. His stomach
knotted with instant need with the knowledge, causing his cock to press harder
on the zipper of his trousers, causing some discomfort. He enjoyed the new
pleasure of reading her body instead of using his senses as a vampire to
recognize them. His heart raced in anticipation of discovering the nuances of
her body from this new perspective. Like exploring virgin territory.

“Do you think anyone will see us?”

“No, I believe the trees are thick enough where we are. We should be
hidden. I can barely see the light on the other side.” His tongue slid along a
full bottom lip. “Now, let me undress you.”

As he steadied her, he reached around her back and slowly drew down the
zipper. He smiled as the dress slipped from her shoulders and down her body,
landing in a puddle on the ground. She stood before him in matching black bra
and panties. “I want to see every inch of your skin, to touch you all over.
Experience you like this is our first time.” Then he slipped one digit under
the strap of her bra and gently nudged it off her shoulder. Reaching around, he
unclipped the fastener and the delicate lacy fabric fell to the ground. Cupping
the lush flesh of her breasts, he kneaded the generous orbs until she leaned
forward against him.

“Oh, don’t stop, Sorin,” she pleaded softly.

His fingers gently traced the contours of her brow, her cheek, her jaw,
slowly moving toward the curve of her throat. Bending his head forward, he
brushed his mouth across the tingling skin, trailing tiny kisses down her neck.

“Oh yes, I want that too. Please…” Her voice trailed off.

Sorin’s grin widened. “But first, I want to taste you.” He dropped to
his knees between her legs and brushed his hand across the skin of her thigh.
“Spread your legs for me, angel.”

Without hesitation, she did as he demanded. Using one finger, he hooked
it around the elastic and tugged the slight slip of lacy fabric down over her
hips, then tore them away from her body, growling his pleasure.

“Hey, those were my nicest pair.”

“I’ll get you another.” One hand held her hip and the other palmed her
mound. He glanced up at her and licked his lips, then slipped his tongue
between her tender folds, tasting her with a groan of what sounded like relief.

She threw her head back with a hiss, “Oh God yes!”

He sucked and licked, urged on as her cries and pants got more urgent.
Pressing closer and teasing her pussy with his tongue, he then slipped a finger
into her heat and groaned as he flicked more forcefully. She squirmed under his
ministrations and arched her body into his mouth as she opened wider for him.
He spread the swollen lips and ran his tongue from the bottom to the top but
stopped just short of touching her clit. She moaned and whimpered, seeming to
want to be licked senselessly. Taking the suggestion with determination, he
licked and tugged all around the sensitive nubbin, resisting the little nudges
she kept making to push him to the point of pleasure.

Finally, she grabbed his hair. “You’re teasing me. Touch me there,” she
demanded.

A soft growl vibrated in the back of his throat and he chuckled
inwardly. His angel was taking control and he’d have none of that. Bringing her
to submission was his primary goal and he’d provide the incentive for her to
succumb to his dominance. The more his lips touched hers, the more he
insinuated his control over her. As soon as she let go of his hair, he sucked
the waiting clit inside his mouth and flicked his tongue over and over until
she screamed.

“Shh, angel. You’ll draw attention to us.” He stopped and waited for
her to catch her breath then started licking and sucking again. Just when he
sensed she was about to climax again, he stopped and stood up.

“On your hands and knees, angel.” As she complied with his demand, he
divested the remainder of his clothing. He dropped to his knees and positioned
his long and thick cock at her entrance. “You’re so wet and ready for me.” Then
he ran his cockhead along her swollen folds, lubricating the tip with her
juices, and with one thrust he pushed inside her hot sheath. She groaned and
pushed back against him until he entered her just a few inches. He stopped and
pulled out and repeated again. The soft mewing noises she made indicated her
need for more, and still he stopped just short of fully entering her. He wanted
her begging and he didn’t have to wait long. His angel was a quick learner.

“Please,” Merliah cried.

“Please what?”

“Make love to me. I can’t stand it anymore. I need you inside, Sorin.”

Obliged to please, he plunged his rock-hard cock deep into her moist
heat. As her wet sheath gripped him, he roared his pleasure, which echoed
through the forest of her creation. Her internal muscles contracted around his
shaft, wringing another moan from both of them. She met his rhythm, urging him
on. The need to feel her milk him to completion pulsed through his body. “So
tight and wet.” He leaned over and growled into her ear.

Merliah tilted her head to the side, exposing the smooth, pale skin of
her throat. The desire to bite her burned inside him, but his fangs did not
descend. The beast within didn’t claw at his chest.

STORY EXCERPT:

After four years wandering in the darkness of her mind, ready to
succumb to the grim pain, Merliah experienced such desperation, depression and
fatigue, she wanted to scream and find a way to end the misery. The strong
survival instinct brought her out of the coma initially years ago, but her
strength to fight remained hanging by a thread. This wasn’t living, awake and
aware but unable to communicate in any form was like death. When the
pitch-blackness first happened, she tried repeatedly to call out, but her voice
couldn’t be heard. Relentless, she tried over and over, to move a toe, a
finger, and she even cried to draw attention. The nurse, who witnessed the one
tear, all those years ago, dismissed the physical plea.

Merliah’s parents had her moved from the hospital to another facility.
She understood the distant voices calling the new place, Berger Institute. The
first reaction was of shock. Ohmigod, I’ve been put in an institution with
crazy people. Am I insane? She refused to believe Robbie abandoned her, but
after leaving the hospital, she never heard his sweet voice again. The man she
loved gave up and left her without saying good-bye and her imprisonment became
more painful and lonely. Her parents’ voices faded as well. Time ceased for her
and she slipped deeper and deeper into the gloomy abyss, existing on a
different plane of consciousness. She could hear and feel on the outside, but
remained in the darkness of her mind unable to communicate to her loved ones.
Time seemed to cease to exist. She’d occasionally hear the staff celebrating a
holiday, but after a few coming and going, Merliah stopped counting. The
instinctive will to survive faded.

One more cry out into the emptiness before she resigned to death’s call
was made as a last resort, and to her surprise and elation, a voice answered.
First, faintly, then it grew louder. A deep, melodic, and velvety voice broke
through the darkness reaching toward her. It was a man, with a beautiful deep
tone. His voice consoled her, wrapped around her and pulled her toward the
light. She cried tears of joy and then a slight fear overtook her thoughts. Am
I dead? Is he the Angel of Death from the stories I’ve read?

Up to that point, everything that made sense in her black world
evaporated. Minutes, hours, days, months slipped by slowly and now someone
reached out to her. How long she wandered aimlessly in her mind, often time
curled up in a ball in the depths of the bottomless pit, she didn’t know. Time
meant nothing without any reference point. The sweet-sounding, shadow man had
found her, and brought her into the light. Who was he and how did he find her
when no one else could? She didn’t know and didn’t care about the details. He
had found her, the only thing that mattered.

From the murky shadows, arms outstretched to clasp on to reality. She
jolted when his cold hand touched hers, swiftly pulling her toward the light
with his commanding voice guiding the way. Feeling the strong power moving her
forward, she feared he was the Dark Angel of Death and not salvation to the
world she had known before the blackness became her present life. She pulled
back from the stranger, frightened more than relieved. As she battled with the
fear, she glanced up but was unable to view his face, only sense the touch
which set her skin afire.

Several seconds ticked by, and a little more of the self-control eroded
away. His dominant presence began to put her at ease, and with one foot in
front of the other, he guided her through the prison of hopelessness.

“Come with me, you’ll be okay. I won’t hurt you.” The voice spoke
softly, a low, lyrical, and heavily accented one. Where is he from?

The power he exuded surrounded her again and his efforts to save her
worked as she fell under his spell and into the tight embrace. Fear, anger and
desperation had driven her to this desperate position. She either had to trust
him to lead her home or believe he was Death, or allow him to eliminate the
misery of her present existence. Either way, the hellish nightmare would end.
Could she leave the nightmare and be born again in dreams? Apprehension still
held her back because he could be nothing more than wishful thinking on her
part.

“You scare me. I called out for a long time and you’re the first person
to answer my cries. Am I dead?” The words were tentative, barely above a
whisper.

“I don’t sense you are. Blood runs strong through your veins. Your skin
is warm and your eyes are bright. You are definitely alive,” the shadow man’s
velvety voice soothed her.

Ohmigod, this man’s voice could melt icebergs. He certainly did a good
job of bringing life back into her desolate reality. Merliah’s senses screamed
as if she were freefalling over a cliff, becoming light-headed and the wind
knocked out of her lungs. Between his seductive words and the sensuous touch,
the hunger of desire clawed her insides to be released. The arousal continued
with thin fingers tickling up and down her spine. The light touches lit nerve
endings on fire and caused her pussy to contract. Her clit ached for attention,
a simple caress to ease the need she had not felt in God only knows how long.

The world she once remembered swirled in heat and desire. She swallowed
hard and tried to stifle the passion down building in her core. The power of
his presence shoved right back. Merliah stumbled backward and gasped as the
energy surged upward when gazing into the glowing red eyes piercing through the
darkness. The stare was one of a predator, a carnal stare which stole her
breath and sent her head spinning. She tried to breathe through the fire
consuming her.

Danita Minnis: Guest Synithia Williams – You Can’t Plan Love

Character Interview

Malcolm Patterson has an interesting
story to tell.

What is your Malcolm
like?

Malcolm is 6’ 2” tall, chocolate skin, warm brown eyes and full lips framed by
a goatee. He’s the senior project manager at H20 Environmental, an
environmental consulting firm in Columbia, SC. In his spare time he plays
basketball with his brother Jared and best friend Devin.

What does Malcolm
do best? What is the perfect location for this action?
Malcolm is
assertive, confident, personable and used to going after what he wants. These
skills have lead to contracts for a wide array of  projects for the firm and his tenacity is the
reason his projects often exceed expectations. He usually applies these same
skills when going after a woman, but had to curb these natural instincts when
it came to his sexy co-worker, Kenyatta Copeland—atleast until she got engaged
to another man.

What drives Malcolm to do the things he does? He works for an environmental firm because he has a deep appreciation for the environment that came from spending time hunting and fishing with his dad. He finally went after Kenyatta when he realized she was about to marry a man he didn’t think would appreciate her. He’s hidden his feelings for her for years and thought he was okay with that, but the thought of her marrying another man shook him more than he ever imagined.

You are
introduced to Malcolm. Is he happy to meet you?
Yes, as a
consultant he meets new people regularly. He is also a natural charmer. When it
comes to women, he treats them all with his undivided attention—maintaining eye
contact and engaging in pleasant conversation.

What is Malcolm’s
favorite guilty pleasure?
Eating junk food. Malcolm works out regularly and
his brother is a health and fitness expert, but he likes to sneak cakes and
candy into his diet.

How would Malcolm
describe himself?

Confident, not cocky.

What is Malcolm’s
weakness?

His co-worker, Kenyatta Copeland, ever since she walked into his office three
years ago. He’s used to going after women he’s attracted to, but refuses to
engage Kenyatta in a scandalous office affair. But every time she’s near she
drives him to distraction. Not just because she’s beautiful, but also because
she works just as hard as him and cares for the environment.

Where does Malcoln
go to regroup/unwind?

He hits the basketball court with his brother and best friend.

What does Malcolm
live for?

It used to be his job—until he made a play for Kenyatta’s heart.

What will Malcolm
kill for?

Anyone who hurts or threatens Kenyatta or his family.

A
Few Questions for Malcolm

Give up three of
your deepest, darkest secrets.
Really? You expect me to tell the world
my darkest secrets? Let’s just say Kenyatta is the only woman with the
privilege of learning those.

If you could
have one super power in your existence, what would it be?
That’s more
like it. I’d have the strength of Superman.

A biography has
been written about you. What do you think the title would be in six words or
less?

Going for the goal and winning.

If money were
not an object, where would you most like to live?
I’m a country
boy, so I’d stay in South Carolina or Georgia. I would have a summer home near the
Bay of Quinte in Ontario
. My brother
and I took a fishing trip there a few years ago and had a blast.

I can never back away
from a challenge
because it’s
not in my nature
.

The next time I don’t follow
my gut instinct
I will remember
how it almost cost me the woman I love
.

Why do I always tell
Kenyatta that I love her
? Because, I almost let her slip away.

My favorite
flavor is

chocolate sundae because Kenyatta
once licked it off my finger
.

I love Kenyatta
Copeland
because I couldn’t
imagine spending my life with anyone else
.

How much innuendo
can you take? Why? Not much. I don’t
have time to play games. I believe in being upfront.

Name one thing
you must do before you die, and why.
Make partner at H20 Environmental. Now
that my personal life is in order I can focus on my professional goals with a
supportive woman by my side.

Synopsis

After
several bad relationships, Kenyatta Copeland decides to control her love life
with the same discernment she uses in her professional life.

Knowing
firsthand the heartbreak that comes when desire and emotion rule a
relationship, Kenyatta assumes marrying Brad Johnson will lead to a stable
life. But as much as she believes she can plan her future, it’s hard to ignore
the way her boss, Malcolm Patterson, ignites her passions with just one look.
After Malcolm learns of her engagement, he makes a play for her heart and
reminds her that passion between a man and a woman has its perks … but also its
costs. When Brad suspects there’s more than work between Kenyatta and Malcolm,
he works harder to keep Kenyatta by his side. Torn between her promise to marry
Brad and her irrepressible longing for Malcolm, Kenyatta must decide if she can
live her life in a passionless marriage of convenience or once again trust her
heart. Yet Brad isn’t as perfect as he seems, and by the time Kenyatta realizes
this it may be too late.
