What is the sweetest thing someone has done for you?
My husband recently booked a 90-minute massage for me the day my book was released. It was so nice to relax and not think about the anxiety I was feeling. He earned some points for that.
How would you spend ten thousand bucks?
If just for fun, on a first-class ticket to Europe. If we’re being serious, then publishing and marketing my next book.
Where do you get your best ideas?
Listening to people’s real-life love stories. It’s incredible how some people ended up together. I also dream a lot. I try to write them down immediately if I remember them.
What comes first, the plot or characters?
The characters for all three books in this series came before the plot. The first book began with a dream I had, and then I had to build the story from the scene and characters I dreamt of. The second two books are characters from the first book for whom I created a story.
What does your main character do that makes him/her special?
She’s resilient. She’s had a tough start to life, but she powered through and made good decisions. She’s kind, responsible, and fiercely independent. Wait, I think I just described myself.
