Romance authors aren’t so different from other writers.
Well, there might be one difference between romance writers and, say, horror writers. As a romance writer I would love my stories to come true. The guy gets the girl sounds just right to me. 
When us romance writers are not writing our WIP’s you can bet we are day-dreaming about them, the next pivotal scene or that secondary hero’s spin-off story.
And sleep is sometimes elusive…
