Falcon and Angel: It’s Complicated

Shimmering waves cresting against white sands…a lullabye for the senses as a warm breeze caresses my skin. Sounds like a plan, but more like a dream.

It would be a dream, if I could sleep.

At 3:00 a.m., when inspiration is both a blessing and a curse, I
don’t want to quibble over who gets the Stradivarius, or who gets Angel. But I
can’t sleep when Angel is talking. Her British accent is clipped in emphasis
each time I close my eyes. Leave her hanging over a cliff while I get 40 winks
(well, 2 winks, to be exact)? Not on her watch. Angel is no angel.

Like any young woman, Angel hasn’t yet discovered all her talents as she
rounds the corner in my head…and bumps into Falcon.

Angel’s lips quirk into an amused moue and she leads him away out of

Falcon. He should have known better than to think this assignment was going to
be easy.

When I started writing my debut paranormal romance Falcon’s
Angel I had no idea Angel’s world was so complicated.

il Dragone, a devil-worshiping cult has been after her
family for centuries.

Her family…well…it’s complicated. A mom with special
powers, a dad who comes from an ancient Roman line of vampire hunters, and an
uncle who…let’s just say he is contemplating becoming immortal for love.

Our story starts with a meeting between Falcon and Angel.
They need each other, just don’t know it yet. With any luck they’ll soon find
out it’s a matter of life and death.

The rest of the family is counting on it. Read an excerpt here.

Wicked Wednesdays: Laura Tolomei and Re-Scue

Wicked Wednesdays

Reincarnation, love out of this world…hmmm…I’ll take that!
Welcome Laura Tolomei and her intriguing series which begins with Re-Scue!

Didri has
an interesting story to tell.

is your Didri like?

Didri is a complex character that finds
it hard to live in the place destiny assigned her. Featured in the book Re-Scue, she lives sometime in the future in the
city Byoldar, the Desert Pearl of an arid planet, Shindera. Here is how the
commercial describes this fabulous city: “A city created for man’s absolute
comfort and well-being. Admire its beauty and elegance. Built with the latest
discoveries in industrial science, Byoldar has impressive buildings.”

Didri works in a pharmaceutical company
that has mass production of meds and various drugs. She has few friends, she’s
more of a loner, and isn’t much into social activities, not even the ones of
the sex clubs. She likes to read, to spend her off time sleeping or going out
with a few selected people for quiet dinners. But her life is about to change.
A new boss has been nominated in her department, and he has all the life she
seems to lack.

Her tale is the first of four contained
in Re-Scue, though she’s actually featured in all of
them. The main thing to remember about Didri is that she’ll reincarnate in
Aural and in Sean, while her captivating seducer, better known as the hunter,
becomes Rhodri and finally Leon. Their tale was so fascinating I had to write a
second book, Tasting Leon’s Mark, just to
give it the closure I couldn’t find in Re-Scue, and now I’m also thinking of adding a
third book simply to finish it off.

does Didri do best? What is the perfect location for this action?

Mostly she’s bored of her work, her
friends, her life mostly, which is what’s going to start it all. The place she
does it best is predictably at work. Checking on a stupid machine vomiting tons
of pills is anything except heart-racing, however fascinating at first to watch
them pour out, the many shapes, sizes, colors—blue round tablets, then red
triangular ones, green spheres, purple hexagons, orange-coated cylinders.

drives Didri to do the things she does?

Like I said, boredom is the most potent
spark to trouble, and Didri will find plenty for her annoyed tastes. It’s how
she discovers Tylean, her boss, loves to play it rough when it comes to
sex–knife, d blood and bondage more his style, but he has the rare trait of listening
to Didri’s bodies and obeying its most secret desires until she becomes a slave
of his passion.

are introduced to Didri. Is she happy to meet you?

Yes, Didri is happy to meet me ‘cause
she knows I’m one of the few people who can understand her rebellious nature in
a world built on rules and conventions. I know her for what she is–a free
spirit trapped in a cage, trying to escape with the little means at her
disposal and making a mess of it in the end.

is Didri’s favorite guilty pleasure?

Didri loves to be tied up and have a
sharp knife cut through her delicate flesh until it ruptures, and blood spurts
out, first in trickles, then in large clumps. Tamed in the flesh, she can then
allow Tylean to claim her ass, his favorite spot, and there’s no end to the
pleasure. What she feels most erotic is playing the part of the prey while her
hunter carves her to bits. Complicated, sure, but also highly satisfying!

would Didri describe herself?

Didri is…well, she’s no great beauty, at
least the conventional kind men appreciate. Definitely too tall, too thin, too
little breasts, and her well-developed muscles or her triangular shaped face,
half hidden by long dark hair that could not conceal the green fiery eyes, do
nothing to help. But whether she’s aware of it or not, she’s got a great ass,
which attracts all the male attention she needs.

is Didri’s weakness?

She’s not yet in love! Yep, it’s her
greatest weakness, the one that will get her killed and then reborn again as Aural
and finally as Sean, the man who will conquer the ghosts tormenting Didri and
get the hunter Tylean/Leon to change his ways.

does Didri go to regroup/unwind?

She has no place ‘cause she’s basically
a loner. That’s why she gets lost in Tylean’s seductive game and accepts to
become his prey, a relationship that will continue through the lifetimes until
Sean and Leon will resolve their initial conflict.

does Didri live for?

At the beginning of Re-Scue, Didri doesn’t have much to live for.
She’s bored. Her life is boring. She would like to do something to change, but
conventions shackle her down. Then she meets Tylean and everything changes. Now
she has a reason to live for, a hot bloodlust that makes her skin tingle, her
senses spark and her life exciting. Too bad Tylean isn’t interested in anything
besides his passionate game. No feelings enter his equation. For Didri,
instead, they become paramount and that’s where all the problems start.

will Diri kill for?

She’ll kill for Tylean’s love.

Few Questions for Didri.

you could have one super power in your existence, what would it be?

It would be the power to time travel
back and forth, so I could see how my lives will be or have been.

biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in
six words or less?

Painful love.

money were not an object, where would you most like to live?

Money? What’s money? On Shindera we have
no money. People work in exchange for the goods and services they need in order
to live. Thus said, if I had the chance, I’d like to see something outside of
Byoldar, the Desert Pearl city. We don’t get to travel much, so it would be
nice to see something different for a change.

can never stand stupid people because they bore me.

next time I’m born again, I will conquer my hunter.

do I always fall in love with the same soul?

favorite flavor is blood because…do you really want to know?

love the hunting because I am a prey.

much pain can you take? Why?

Since Tylean, pain has become my
specialty. He has the power to cause it in such a way that it’s just pleasure
no matter how bonded, gagged, carved or bloody I am. He’s taught me to go
beyond it, regardless of its intensity, to combine it with other sensation in
order to heighten it and transform it into bliss. Now I can’t live without it,
so I’ll keep looking for it life after life, seeking out the man who alone can
hunt me down and dominate me. I guess it’s my nature as prey to be his in the
pain as much as in the pleasure, and though I’ve fallen in love with him and he
hasn’t, I know one day, down the long line of our lives, I’ll get him and he’ll
be truly mine forever.

one thing you must do before you die, and why.

There’s nothing I can’t do also after
I’ve died. My many lives as a gazelle, as Aural and now as Sean have proved I
can catch up with my mistakes and put things right. Just proves that given
enough time, enough lives, enough effort anyone can get it perfect in the end!

fascinates me.” Stretched out on the bed, Tylean rolled on a side to look at
Didri’s battered flesh next to him, littered with many tiny scars, which he
washed clean of the blood with tender care, almost lovingly, applying a
miraculous lotion of his own concoction that in due time healed the superficial
wounds perfectly.

life took a turn for the worst, though Didri hardly noticed, too wrapped up in
her fantasy world, a misty land where everything seemed blurred. Only her
body’s needs were clear, drowned as they were in a ceaseless blood feasting
that became increasingly dangerous. Dissatisfied with superficial cuts, Tylean
sliced deeper, taking his slow, sweet time in carving her flesh with intricate
patterns that left indelible scars despite copious use of healing lotion
afterward, until the balance between pain and pleasure leaned heavily on the

that he consciously tried to hurt her for most of the times, he appeared
indifferent to her feelings, pulling back only at the last moment, wanting to
push her limits harder and faster beyond the edge. Yet, it made for better sex,
as he stated more than once, his cock stiffening from the second the blade
touched her skin up to his convulsive release, usually in her ass, after having
torn her to a red pulp.

never complained however, complying with all his whims, overwhelmed by the
erotic vortex that made her senses spin out of the mind’s control, which she
did her best to ignore by shutting out rationality all together unable to stop
craving he take her—any piece of her would do—for his own pleasure being her
favorite agony until nothing made sense except his powerful frame pounding hers
incessantly. Accepting to be his slave, the obedient servant to his cruel play
was enough to feel as if he cared, wanting to mistake his burning touch,
whether with a cold metallic blade or with a fiery possessive clutch made
little difference, for something she knew it was not. And away from him,
nothing changed since Tylean was the only man, the only person, the only thing
she could think about, feeling his metal-gray eyes following her wherever she
went. Her heart, too, was caught in his game, thumping violently—painfully was
more accurate—every time he was near, quickly moving to her cunt until the
throb became unbearable.

what absolutely astonished her was her burning desire to be with him alone
every breathing moment, asking for nothing except his presence in her life,
forever if necessary or until he struck a vital part, whichever came first. So
she lived on an intoxicating borderline of sensations for weeks before she
found the courage to call it with its right name. And by then it was too late
to do anything about it because she had fallen in love.

had not expected it, of course.

Lenore Wolfe: To Tame A Wild Hawk

Welcome Lenore Wolfe!

She is a writer of dark
fantasy, paranormal and historical romance. Look who came along – her western-style hottie – Hawk!

Character Interview:

Hawk has an interesting story to tell.

1. What is Hawk like? Hawk loses everyone he’s ever loved when they are killed by a man who Hawk has never even met. He is a gunfighter who is searching for the men responsible for killing his sister and nephew.

2. What does Hawk do best? What is the perfect location for this action? He is a gunfighter, so the wild west. Hawk has been raised as a Lakota and Cheyenne warrior-but he uses the means of his white heritage to exact revenge.

3. What drives Hawk to do the things he does?
Hawk was raised by the Lakota and Cheyenne Indians. His Indian family dies when he is a teen, and he returns to the sister his father had left behind when he’d was a child. But he’s not home long before he and his brother-in-law, Jake, are called to join the Civil War, and while they are gone, an unknown enemy kills Jake’s wife and son. Hawk is hunting this man when he is led to Cheyenne, Wyoming. He soon learns who is behind the killings–and why that is so significant to his life. But more significant than this–is the woman who has been fighting their mutual enemy–and why.

4. You are introduced to Hawk. Is he happy to meet you? Probably not. He’s suspicious of people who want to meet him. People he should have been able to trust have killed the people he’s loved all of his life, starting with his own father–when he and a band of renegades massacred all their friends in their wagon train.

5. What is Hawk’s favorite guilty pleasure? Mandy. She lights a fire in him that he never knew could exist.

6. How would Hawk describe himself?
Hawk generally wears buckskins–except when he has strapped on his colt 45. Then he is the gunfighter of his white heritage. When he’s dressed like this, he often wears more of cowboy outfit, or a western suit, complete with boots and spurs.

7. What is Hawk’s weakness? Mandy. She can cause him to be vulnerable. And showing any signs of vulnerability to his enemies can get a man killed in the West.

8. Where does Hawk go to regroup/unwind? He frequently rides out to be alone in the wilderness. It’s where he can go to think, plan and bring under control the emotions that he cannot allow to rule his head.

9. What does Hawk live for? Revenge. At least until he met Mandy. Up until then, revenge had been the only thing he had thought about since the day he watched his father kill their friends.

10. What will Hawk kill for? The murder of his friends on the wagon train–and the murder of his sister and nephew.

A Few Questions for Hawk

1. Give up three of your deepest, darkest secrets.

I have to keep Mandy from finding out that the man she has been hunting, the man who murdered her father, is someone–I come to find I know. He is someone who will make her feel like I’ve betrayed her. She must never know that. And one day, I will have to leave her, no matter how much I want to stay, so she must never know how much I love her–because when she finds out what I’ve been hiding–she’ll hate me.

2. If you could have one super power in your existence, what would it be?
The power to strike my enemy like a rattle snake–quick–and deadly.

3. A biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in six words or less? A man–feared by his enemies.

4. If money were not an object, where would you most like to live? On the ranch with Mandy.

5. I can never stay with Mandy because
I have a secret–that will make Mandy feel as though I have betrayed her.

6. The next time I kill I will have finally laid to rest the sight of my friend’s sightless eyes, staring up at the sky. Friend’s who were killed by my own father.

7. Why do I always allow Mandy to get under my skin?

8. My favorite flavor is the taste of Mandy’s lips because
she is as sweet as a succulent rose.

9. I love riding through the forest with Mandy because I can feel free of the demons that have rode me all of my life–even if it’s just for that moment.

10. How much pain can you take? As much as it takes to protect Mandy from me. Why? She deserves more than a man who has spent his life behind the barrel of a gun.

11. Name one thing you must do before you die. Kill my father.

Tame A Wild Hawk

Amanda Kane has spent years with a secret society of Lakota women,
who taught her the ancient ways. She has sought the help of the Grandmothers,
from beyond the veil, to help her stop the man behind the mask. They point her
to the visions she has always had of the man she’s destined to marry—a cowboy
who will help save her ranch. But Hawk is no ordinary cowboy. He carries a
powerful secret. A secret that leads to betrayal.

He was magnificent—standing there, waiting for her to
reach his side. And soon after she did, their lives became irrevocably woven
together. Mandy likened it to a silvery, invisible thread, joining their
hearts. And she knew the Grandmothers smiled.

their lives entwined. Her heart pounded—fanciful thoughts. But her mind soon

for a neutral tone.

she looked up and was captured, completely off guard, by the intense look in
his gold eyes. He’d read her mind again, drat the man; or was her body giving

thread he was weaving around her. She was caressed by it—captured by it. And
each time, the web grew stronger. “You want this marriage in every way, every

Mandy’s tongue darted out to moisten her lips and heard Hawk groan.
She swallowed, her eyes closing for a moment with her body’s reaction to that

Donna Del Oro: The Delphi Bloodline

Behind THE DELPHI BLOODLINE: Questions about ESP

Donna Del Oro

percent of Americans, according to parapsychology studies cited in the book,
Psychic Awareness, claim to have had experiences they would call psychic. Those
experiences might be: Hunches about your or someone else’s future; physical
clues that alert you to danger or wrong decisions; intuitive feelings that
guide you correctly through life; and/or receiving information through physical
sensations, thoughts, visions or emotions. It could be a prickly sensation at
the back of your neck about a particular person, place or thing. Or a warm
feeling at the thought of a good decision. If you’ve experienced any of the
above, then you’re in touch with your psychic abilities.

            My heroine,
Athena Butler in THE DELPHI BLOODLINE, has already moved from “I know but I
don’t know how I know” psychic awareness, where most of us are at. Through her
gifted mother’s instruction and guidance, Athena—the modern-day descendant of
an ancient, psychically powerful bloodline of women—knows HOW and WHY she
knows. She’s a talented clairvoyant who sees visions and is able to access
information simply by touching a person. This clairvoyance might take the form
of reading that person’s thoughts or by seeing into that person’s past.

            While this
ability of hers has caused her to lose boyfriends—who resent her intrusion into
their privacy—her clairvoyance also alerts her to danger. When a handsome
stranger approaches her in a Reno hotel gallery, where she is painting dead
celebrities like Elvis and Frank Sinatra, Athena shakes his hand. Immediately,
visions of his dark, violent past assail her, warning her that he is an
impostor and even worse, that he means her harm.

            Thus begins
a threat that forces Athena to flee for her life. With the help of Kas Skoros,
a tall, dark-haired man who claims to be a Guardian of the Delphi bloodline,
they begin a journey of running, hiding and finally fighting back. As more
psychics all over the country continue to disappear, the FBI is stymied. What’s
happening to these psychics?  Why are
they disappearing?  Who’s kidnapping
them?  Athena’s mother believes the
mastermind has something to do with a White House dinner she attended months

            The three
remaining descendants of the bloodline—Athena, her mother and Kas’s mother—are
the only ones who can uncover the truth behind these kidnappings.

            So what’s
the origin of such psychic abilities? Are these talents truly genetic, do they
run in families, as I suggest in my novel?
Do they originate from an all-seeing God, as Athena’s mother believes?
Do they come from an omniscient spirit world? Another dimension as yet
unexplored by man, as Athena believes? Or are they simply physical, biochemical
reactions in the brain, as some neuroscientists suggest? Do brain waves play a
role, as some parapsychologists have studied?

            Sorry to
disappoint you, but experts have no definitive answers to those questions.
Theories abound and what I put forth in THE DELPHI BLOODLINE is just one
theory. There are many theories about psychic abilities, but no scientific
proof.  Not yet, anyway.

What the scientific experiments (and I include some of
these experiments in my novel) do prove is that these abilities exist in
varying degrees among all of us.  These
are human abilities, like innate skills in art and music. Some of us can strum
a few chords on a ukelele; others among us can write symphonies, like Beethoven
and Gershwin. Some of us can paint by numbers; others become Titian,
Michaelangelo and Da Vinci.

Welcome Holly Barbo!

Today, Holly gives us insight on psychic abilities.

Congratulations, Holly, on your new release, The Founders!

Holly Barbo

On the planet Ose there are a small number of individuals
with psychic abilities. They are called sages and the series:  Sage
Seed Chronicles
is about them and their interaction with the other
inhabitants and the world. The Founders
is the first book.

Each sage has two to four psi talents which blend to form a
unique skill set as individual as they are. Let’s look at the gifts that those
special individual draw from.

Psychometry is a common ability. Those sages can get
information from touching something. If it is an object they can get knowledge
on who it belonged to or where it has been. When they touch a person they can
read bits of intelligence about the individual or what they are thinking.
Psychometry can sometimes be a lie-detector, too.

A few sages are gifted with Telekinesis and can move objects
with their mind. Zair is a sage with this ability and at a critical point in
the story is able to clear debris caught in the gears of a windmill; an act of
sabotage that he thwarts. Sometime a healer has this gift and is able to “see”
inside the body to clean a wound or hold it closed as she stitches it.

Another talent is Clairvoyance and every sage who has it
always comments that it is an unreliable skill. Those sages can see glimmers of
things that will happen … or perhaps not happen if the future changes due to
someone’s action now. Gert is clairvoyant and finds it awkward.

She shook her head. Her pragmatic side would scoff and
say that she had flights of fancy, if it wasn’t for the fact that too many times
these thoughts had proven true. “I never understand why I see what I see.
Frankly, I’m rather uncomfortable with this skill. I just have to assume that
there is a reason.

The Empath sage can feel or receive emotions or impressions
of another person. This skill is frequently, though not always, linked with
Telepathy: an ability to tune into thoughts of others. It depends upon how the
talent is manifested but some Telepaths can communicate with animals. The Great
One, who is the leader of the realm, is always a sage with telepathic skills.
He must be able to talk to people in their minds from great distances.

The last psi talent is Intuition. It is often an ability
that is combined with other skills. In any given sage the psi endowments
connect together differently. Some skills are stronger than others or manifest
only in specific ways.

One of the prominent characters is Rafe. His earth heritage
was Italian and Cherokee and he had the appropriate coloring and bone
structure, with the surprising exception of grey eyes. He stood a little over
six feet tall and had been active his whole life. When he was a child in New
York, he used to read comic books and always related to Spider-man’s “spidey”
sense. Later, he understood that was the form that his empathic intuition took.
Those two skills were his strongest but flavored with clairvoyance. He was also
able to communicate with animals by telepathy.

Paranormal by definition is an event or perception
without scientific explanation yet many of us know who is calling before we
pick up the phone or have a feeling about something that comes true. Can we
prove these feelings or hunches scientifically? No, but they are just as real.
What I have done with characters in the Sage
Seed Chronicles
is give these wonderful talents legitimacy. Besides… I
have always wanted to be able to communicate with wildlife. Why not make it
possible in my own world?

Angel’s Lips

Here is a snippet on one of Falcon’s favorite things.

“When I was six I asked my mum for a violin. She asked me what I liked about the violin and I told her it sounded like love.”

She glanced at him, a smile playing against moist lips. Like she’d just licked them.
She dropped her gaze to the bowl.

He must have made her uncomfortable. That was understandable since they did not know one another. But she was adorable, and would have to forgive him.

She swirled spaghetti around the fork and the cheese got soaked with sauce.
He passed her the grater of parmesan cheese.” A third helping?”
She giggled.

He watched pouty lips quirk up into a teasing moue. Innocent enough, but it was also an erotic affectation she seemed unaware of. That same expression had transformed her features several times tonight, particularly when she was about to share something

Hunter Raines on Tour: Sight Unseen

Oooh…Ghosties…Romance…What more could you want?
Why, Hunter Raines on tour, of course!

Character Interview

1.  What is Danny like?

Danny lost his sight a couple of years ago in the
car accident that took his lover’s life. However, losing his sight gave him the
ability to see ghosts. He now spends his time working with the Phoenix Police
Department to help with unsolved cases so he can give the spirits who haunt him
some peace. He’s glad to be useful, but he’s also extremely lonely.
Relationships are difficult for him, partly due to his blindness, and partly
due to the fact that most people don’t believe he has the ability to see

2.  What does Danny do best?
What is the perfect location for this action?

He’s very good at communicating with spirits to
figure out what they want, despite the fact that ghosts don’t talk. He has to
figure out their desires from their gestures alone, but he’s gotten great at it
over the years. The perfect location is pretty much anywhere the ghosts lead
him – it could be as mainstream as a mall, or as stomach-churning as a sewer.

3.  What drives Danny to do the
things he does?

Since losing his sight, he’s struggled to become a
productive member of society. He wants to be useful again. So helping the
Phoenix PD solve cold cases is a good way for him to contribute. He’s also
looking to find peace. The only way to be rid of the ghosts is to figure out
their unfinished business. The downside is that as soon as one vanishes, another
appears and the cycle starts all over again.

4.  You are introduced to Danny.
Is he happy to meet you?

Absolutely! Danny’s a nice guy. I’m sure he’d love
to chat with me for a while.

5.  What is Danny’s favorite
guilty pleasure?

Danny adores his 12-year old niece, Isabelle. He’d
rather spend time with her than do just about anything else.

6.  How would Danny describe himself?

He’d describe himself as tall, with curly hair and
permanent scruff since he rarely bothers to shave. He’d also point out the
cane, which is what most people notice first.

7.  What is your Danny’s

His stubborn streak when it comes to maintaining his
independence continues to get him into trouble. He’d rather do things himself
just to prove he can rather than accept help from anyone.

8.  Where does Danny go to regroup/unwind?

At home. He feels most comfortable in his own home,
because he knows the layout and he can be sure he’s not going to smack into a
wall or trip over something someone accidentally moved since the last time he
memorized the lay of the room.

9.  What does your MC live for?

His sister and his niece.

10. What will your MC kill for

To protect his sister and his niece.

A Few Questions for Danny

1.  If
you could have one super power in your existence, what would it be?

X-Ray vision. At this point, I’ll
take any kind of ‘vision’ I can get.

2.  A
biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in
six words or less?

*laughs* Funny you should mention
biographies. My lover and I met because he was hired to write my biography. I’m
not sure what he would have called it if he’d gone through with the assignment…
Probably something like Danny Van Doren, Ghost Detective.

3.  If
money were not an object, where would you most like to live?

Somewhere close to the ocean. I’d
love to fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing against the shore.

4.  I
can never keep up with what’s popular on TV because hearing the
dialogue without being able to see the screen drives me crazy

5.  The
next time I have Isabelle over I will make her homemade ice cream.

6.  Why
do I always bang my shin against the same coffee table?

7.  My
favorite flavor is mint because it’s refreshing.

8.  I
love music because I  can fully
appreciate it without having to see the performer.

9.  How
much skepticism can you take? Why?

Lots. Almost everyone I’ve ever
met has been skeptical of my abilities. It doesn’t interfere with my work, or
my life. People can believe whatever they choose. My talent doesn’t require
their belief.

Name one thing you must do before you die, and

Find peace for every last spirit
still wandering the Earth. It’s an unattainable goal, I know, but a guy can

Book Blurb:

Daniel Van Doren was once a renowned writer, until
he was blinded in the car accident that killed his lover. Now, all he sees are
ghosts in need of help. They follow him everywhere, and the only way to be rid
of his ethereal visitors is to help them resolve their unfinished business here
on earth so their spirits can find peace.

Ghostwriter Logan Riley is assigned to pen Daniel’s
biography. He plans to reveal him as a fraud, but when they meet he’s struck by
Danny’s quiet sincerity–and a growing attraction. Which makes sticking close
to Danny to find out the truth more than a little distracting.

When they are attacked by a violent poltergeist, Logan
begins to believe Danny’s not just telling the truth, he’s in grave danger. A
spirit has learned how to harness the energy of the living to break through the
barrier between worlds to harm Danny. And Logan may be the one to blame…

Danny loitered
by the door, listening for the sound of a car pulling up the drive. His heart
thumped, each beat measuring the passing of time. He’d been standing there for
at least ten minutes, though he hadn’t bothered to check his watch. Maybe Logan
wouldn’t show up. Maybe after having a night to think about it, he decided
Danny had been right—he wasn’t in the least bit interesting, and spending the
next few months following a blind man around would be preferable only to
watching paint dry. Maybe—

But no.
There it was, the sound of a motor revving, then slowing as it pulled into his
driveway. It sounded different than the police cruisers Nick normally sent for
him. Different also than Nick’s beat up truck, which sputtered and coughed like
a tractor.

waited until Logan rang the bell, then lingered a little while longer after
that before unlatching the bolt. Throwing the front door open the moment the
chime pealed would only make him look desperate.

And he
wasn’t desperate. Lonely, maybe. Eager for another whiff of that mouthwatering
cologne, definitely. But not desperate.

A swift
shot of longing chased away the uncertainty Danny had been feeling all morning.
He grabbed his cane and stepped outside, letting the door close behind him.

female ghost from the Java Café was back, too, and she didn’t look anywhere
near as calm this morning as she had last night. In fact, she seemed downright
restless, pacing across the field of darkness, scowling at the geriatric boxer
when he got in her way and flicking dart-filled glares at Danny. The ball of
light she held had shrunk to the size of a marble. Was that why she was so

to help her even if he wanted to, Danny turned away and faced more or less in
the direction he thought Logan would be standing. “I wasn’t sure you’d show.”

“Did I
give you a reason to doubt me?”

shrugged. He trailed his fingertips across the lock, then fumbled with the key,
unable to slide it home as quickly as he’d have liked.

fingers wrapped around his, sending a shiver down his spine. “Here, let me

opened his mouth to protest, then closed it again when he realized Logan had no
intention of taking his keys. Instead, he guided Danny’s fingers, positioning
the key before pressing their hands forward. Logan’s back pressed against
Danny’s, pinning him to the doorframe. The unmistakable feel of Logan’s
erection against the curve of his hip made it hard to breathe.

The key
slipped inside, and Danny nearly moaned. Logan turned their fingers until the
lock clicked into place, then he drew back, leaving Danny shaken and

“Take my arm. I’ll guide you to the car.”
