Chivalry is NOT dead, Ladies…

As
a romance author, I’ve read my share of flowing gowns in sprawling meadows and scenes
full of tall, dark and handsome. And I never get tired of them. I am in love with
love! My favorite books romance me, again and again. To this day, I cannot put
these books down once I start reading. Browse through this collection of
stories for my favorite things about romance and fall in love again.

1.
Rebecca
by Daphne du Maurier
– Mr. and Mrs. de Winter, an innocent bride and a man with
a past. This haunting romantic tragedy
plays out on a desolate Cornish coast and has everything I need in a meal, gothic
mystery, unconditional love and so much more.

2.
Knight
in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux
– When heartbroken Dougless Montgomery met
her sixteenth century knight in an old English church it took my breath away. He
rescues the modern girl in this moving tale of the power of love.

3.
Remembrance
by Jude Deveraux
– yes, two Deveraux books back to back, just love her work! If
you like reincarnation and the promise of love-everlasting read this book of soul mates. And guess what? They find
each other and recognize each other. Enjoy travelling the eras with Hayden
Lane and her man. Just beautiful to behold.

4.
Dragonfly
in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
– Time-travel has always fascinated me as much as
lush lands and romantic eras. You will find all of that in this story. Claire
travels back in time to eighteenth century France, where she and her husband
Jamie plot against Bonnie Prince Charlie. Another haunting romance and if you
haven’t read this one, suffice it to say you can taste the longing in their lives across the centuries.

5.
The
Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss
– From Georgian England to a
plantation in the Carolinas, Heather and her stern Captain Brandon fight. She
is the one who sought refuge in the
arms of a dangerous man, now she must deal with his unrestrained passion. A
must read, this book tore down sexual barriers in historical novels.

In The Key Of Love

I should have known I would end up here... Give me a good book and I'm in heaven. Especially romance, mystery, mayhem, the fantastic and the fey. Give me a laptop and I'm writing any one of these, and not in any particular order.

  1. I loved A Knight in Shining Armor — I think Jude Deveraux writes very memorable heroes. My favorite was Wishes. ^_^

re: what I love about reading historical romances — the HEA, the nobleness of the heroes (even the rakes had good hearts) —

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  2. Hi Danita! I see you’re hopping! I LOVE Diana Gabaldon’s books- the moment where Jamie sees Claire after 20 years apart (and faints) just tears at my heart! Have a great hop!

  3. One of my favourites is ‘Katherine’ by Anya Seton, the story of the lowly lady-in-waiting who won the love of the Prince (John of Gaunt).

  7. A Knight in Shining Armor was one of the fist romance novels I ever read.

  8. Hmm, based on the “hints” I’d say your interest in romance comes because romance has: haunting love, soul mates, longing, and refuge.
For me, romance is all about the trust and respect built between the characters. Since I write BDSM, these elements are very important.

  9. Romance doesn’t always have to be something elaborate. It could be having your loved one bump your knee with his under the table while you’re at the restaurant with relatives.

  10. I love reading romance books because it is an escape away from real life, knowing in the end that the girl gets the guy and they live happy ever after….I have met my Love and we do have a Happy Ever After…

  11. My favorite things about romance is the guarantee that the characters are going to find their true love! 🙂 I live for that kind of stuff, haha. Thank you for the giveaway.

  12. What i like about romances is when the focus is on the emotional relationship between the characters rather than the sexual one. The book gives a greater insight into the human experience that way.

  18. My favourite thing about romance novels is seeing how the two characters fall in love and get their HEA in the end.

Thanks for the giveaway and for participating in the blog hop!

  19. Romance is one of my favorite genres because you can add in the mystery and suspense to enrich the story, but still have the way the love of two people triumphs be the main focus. The small details in a romance are the most important to me.

  20. I love Rebecca. I read it every Fall. I love the chase and the HEA in romances.

    Thanks,

  21. I look for a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy in romance. I love PNR best so I also look for good, imaginative world building and it helps if the secondary characters are well written too.

  22. I’m a sucker for the HEA. All my favorite authors give me a great story line, characters I can identify with, HOT love scenes and a perfect HEA!
the Flame and the Flower and The wolf and the Dove were among the very first romance books I read that I really really loved.

  23. Thanks for participating! Really like the hop so far!! I love reading, especially romance. I love reading contemporary, historical and erotic romance. I love the happy ending that is garenteed at the end. My favorite book is Lover Mine by JR Ward! I love John Matthew and Xhex. My favorite romantic moment was when my fiancé asked me to marry him! We meant two years ago right around when summer was ending when my friend and I went out for our last big night out before classes started again. I think it is romantic when he brings me flowers because no one else has ever done it! Thanks so much! Hope everyone else is having a great long weekend!!
