Danita’s TBR Spotlight: Nicole Hurley-Moore – Until The Stars Burn Cold

Welcome, Nicole Hurley-Moore!

I love the book cover, love the premise and this is now marked as To Be Read. So, tell us all about your new release!

Thanks Danita, for letting me drop by.

How the
smallest of things can inspire a story.

Much to my poor husband’s horror, I have a love of
jewellery. I spend more time than I should,
looking at catalogues, jewellery
sites and Ebay. We all have our Achilles’ heel and this happens to be mine.
However, it is because of one of these illicit sessions that I came up with the
idea for my latest book, Until The Stars
Burn Cold
. I happened across a picture of a silver ring with a figure in
the shape of a man on it. At the time, I didn’t pay it an awful lot of
attention. If I remember correctly, my response was something along the lines
of “
Oooo… that’s kind of interesting”.

But the image of the ring kept coming back to me and merging
with magic and the Arabian Nights. Yes I admit it, I obliviously read this too
many times as a kid. All of a sudden a story about star crossed lovers, curses
and rings began to percolate. Soon, the time travel romance of Until The Stars Burn Cold took shape.

And no, I didn’t but the ring… but now, I kind of wish I
had.

Looking back on my books, I realized that there’s, a ring,
trinket or necklace featured in all of them. Even my upcoming medieval
Christmas novella is awash with jewels. Um… maybe I really do have a wee bit
of a problem.  :/

Jewellery aside, I suppose what I’m trying to say is that
inspiration can come from anywhere and usually when we least expect it. So be
open, because you never know when the smallest of things could snag your
imagination and inspire you.

Until
The Stars Burn Cold

Forbidden love

Long ago in ancient Persia, there
lived a pair of star crossed lovers. In a desperate bid, the lovers sought to
flee the town of Adwan. But they were caught and torn apart. For his insolence,
Jinn is cursed into a ring. Ages pass and empires crumble… and Jinn is still
forever bound in a circle of frozen silver. Bound, that is until present day
antiques dealer, Mia Templeton accidentally releases him. Mia is beautiful and
Jinn, finds her somehow familiar. Is love eternal and evil everlasting? Can the
power that destroyed his life in Adwan, reach through the centuries and
threaten his future?

Snippet
from Until the Stars Burn Cold

The force of his kiss almost
made her stagger back, but his strong arms held her in place, in the one place
she had been dreaming about all day. His hand cradled the back of her neck and
made her feel treasured. Mia felt his body press against hers, and even through
his wet clothes she could feel the heat. Winding her arms about his neck she
felt the cold and damp cotton of his shirt beneath her hands. His kiss was
filled with lust and longing and it floored her; as her heart began to beat
faster. She knew that she had never been kissed with such intensity.

“I need you,” he murmured
against her lips. “Be with me, Mia. I need to touch you.”

“I need to touch you too.” Her
hands slipped from around his neck to the small buttons that ran down the front
of his shirt. Deftly her fingers moved until the shirt hung undone, and she ran
her hands over his smooth skin which was cool from the rain. She ran her hands
higher until the rested on his shoulders, rising up onto her toes and running a
series of slow kisses against his neck. His skin tasted of cinnamon.

Jinn lifted Mia into his arms
and carried her into the front room. Winding her arm about his neck she rested
her head on his shoulder, his shirt was wet but she didn’t care. She breathed
in his scent, there was a hint of spice mixed with the clearness of rain. He
sat her down on the cream sectional before shrugging out of his shirt and
letting it fall to the ground.

Kneeling before her, he slowly
untied the cord from around her waist. She felt the gown part and his fingers
glide over her skin. He edged the fabric over her shoulders until a pool of
apple green silk puddled around her. His eyes never left her face as he pushed
the thin black silk straps of her chemise over her arms, first one and then the
other. Mia swallowed as she stared back into his dark eyes. Standing up, Jinn
pulled her to her feet and watched as the chemise fell from her body. The black
silk rippled like waves as it slipped over her warm skin and revealed her.
