But first, l love to get into an author’s mind. Let’s see how Donna answers my ten:

Author Interview

How did you choose your genre? What made you write this book? I love any type of paranormal story, and that’s why I write them.

What led me to write this book was an idea that simply popped into my mind: What if I threw two people who had a love/hate relationship and forced them to live with one another for a period of time. That led to what if my hero’s brother was also my heroine’s fiancé and he was dead? What if he had been murdered and the police had the wrong person? And it just spiraled from there.

Writers write what they know, and must observe the world. Are you a first born, middle or last child and how does this shape your view of the world? I am the youngest child of nine. I think that I’ve had plenty of experience in different aspects of living just by learning and listening from my older brothers and sisters. I think my world view is much more open because of this.

Where is your favorite place to write? In my recliner with my pajamas on with a cup of coffee

How do you feel about killing your darlings, and what do you do with the remains? I do not like it at all and usually grumble about it, but in the end I know the book is better for it. I always save the remains in a separate folder, lol.

You are introduced to your favorite author. Who is it, and what is that one burning question you must ask them? Definitely Stephen King. I would have to ask, “Seriously, where in the world do you come up with your stories?”

Inquiring minds want to know…tell readers something about you that no one knows. I am extremely afraid of deep water. Any water that is deeper than me. And I’m equally afraid of heights. Now picture me in a plane over the ocean. Yeah, it’s not a pretty sight lol.

You are stranded on a deserted island with only a back pack for company. What three items are in your survival pack? A lighter, my notebook, and a knife.

If you could have one super power in your existence, what would it be? I would have healing. If I could end someone’s pain that would be incredible to me.

Favorite snack? Chocolate chip cookies

Indy 500 – Do you know how to get where you’re going or do you drive the speed limit? I absolutely know how to get where I’m going. Speed limit … what speed limit? Okay okay. I’m not going all Nascar. But on my bucket list is to go to the Richard Petty racing school and have at it!

Blurb

As if the violent murder of Lena Dixon’s fiancé hadn’t been bad enough, now his brother, Nicholas Hunter, is court ordered to live with her for the next thirty days. And to top it off, the murderer’s ghost is asserting his innocence and refuses to leave until Lena and Nicholas prove it.

The skeptic in Nicholas believes Lena has lost her mind until he witnesses some unexplainable events and is forced to believe in her psychic abilities and his heart’s desire.

As their sexual chemistry heats up, so do their guilt levels. Can they make their newfound relationship work, or will it be too late when the real killer comes calling for her?

The door slowly opened, and she slid through the slim opening. The purple smudges under her beautiful hazel eyes spoke volumes to him, crushing his heart. Be strong.

“What do you want? The sheriff already delivered the papers.” The glare radiating from her hazel eyes spoke of wanting to set him on fire, burning him alive. She’d been crying.

“I know.”

She crossed her arms over her chest. “Well, you also know Earl left me the house.”

“A small technicality which will be fixed the day after tomorrow in court.”

She sighed. “Then what do you want today of all days?”

“I would like to get into my attic.” When she didn’t answer, he smiled. “Please.”

Suspicion crept into the fiery gaze. “Why should I let you?”

“I have a key. I can come and go anytime I please.” Vixen. “I thought I’d be nice and ask, before forcing my way in.”

“You certainly aren’t winning me over.”

He put his hands together as if in prayer. “Please. I just need the trunk.” His and Earl’s trunk. After the funeral, Lena had insisted Nicholas take the treasure trove with him, but the memories inside had been too much to handle at the time.

Her swollen eyes softened a little. “Well…” She pushed open the door and waved him in.

He made his way through the foyer, pausing when he spotted the family photos hanging on the wall. “I see you haven’t changed anything.” He hadn’t been inside the house since Earl’s death.

“Why would I?”

His eyes caught the flower arrangement on the side table near the staircase along with the card sticking up in the middle. “Secret admirer?”

Her face flushed. “How about none of your business? Do you want time with the trunk or what?”

Bio

I live in the beautiful upstate of South Carolina with my husband, our children, and some great haunts. Besides being a busy bee with my writing, I’m a Mom, a Grandmom, a co-owner of a motorcycle shop and an avid reader. And we love traveling to Mexico and Jamaica.

I have two books published with Soul Mate Publishing: The Swan Cove Murders, a paranormal romantic suspense, and Secrets of Jenkins Bridge, a romantic suspense. I like writing about things that go bump in the night and finding a new twist to include in my stories.

  1. It’s so nice to hear of someone who understands that depths are the same as heights! I’ve tried to explain that to people, but it seems many people can’t seem to understand that deep water and heights are basically the same…it’s just you can see one and not the other (I tell them that “depth is simply height inverted”). I enjoyed the interview and excerpt.
